SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

REF: TECHNOLOGY_SQS_JUL_2013
We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Network Engineering Departmentwithin the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:
Reporting to the Senior Manager-Access Network Rollout, the position holder will conduct Cost Control and CAPEX Monitoring, raise Purchase Requisitions/Orders, and ensure efficient delivery, issuance and utilization of Equipment and Materials for Network Engineering Projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform verification of quotations with respect to scope/quantities/costs and undertake site measurements/audit for site construction works to achieve cost savings and guard against unjustified contractual claims;
  • Perform verification of variations orders with respect to scope/quantities/costs and undertake site measurements/audit to ensure proper execution of the variation orders;
  • Resolve contractual conflicts in liaison with Senior Manager, HOD and Legal Department;
  • Raise and track purchase requisitions for assigned Network Engineering projects to ensure timely issuance of accurate purchase orders;
  • Issue accurate ROF 7s, move orders and reverse move orders within agreed/set timelines;
  • Ensure timely forecasting and delivery/availability of materials/equipment for Network Engineering projects;
  • Submit materials/equipment tracking reports as per schedule/when required;
  • Provide budget monitoring services with the input of site audits and provide analysis of budget overruns and underspends for Access Network Rollout/Network Engineering projects.
Role requirements;
  • Degree in Building Economics or equivalent;
  • At least 4 years relevant experience in a busy construction environment in particular processing contractor’s payments, claims and contract administration with professional quantity surveyors;
  • Experience in tender documentation and evaluation, estimating, pricing of building, electro-mechanical and civil engineering equipment and materials;
  • Experience in Telecommunications / GSM rollout and or optimization projects and in particular procurement processes;
  • Project Management qualification an added advantage.
