Purpose of Programme
The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) provides introductory professional development opportunities to Young Professionals (YPs), who would like to work in the international development field within a commercial and technical project management framework. By targeting young graduates and providing them with an opportunity to work and live overseas, the programme is an investment in human resource development.  The YPs taking part in the programme can expect to work in the various GRM Futures Group offices around the world in over 60 countries including the United Arab Emirates, United States, England, Indonesia, South Africa, Afghanistan and Nigeria – giving them exposure to such core business aspects such as project management and business development activities. The advertised position is aimed at significantly strengthening the YP‘s knowledge, and their understanding and experience in international development from a commercial project management perspective. 

Primary Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will be coordinated by your Young Professional Manager and will pertain to your current business unit.  You will be expected to deliver administrative, research, operational, financial, compliance, and consult support for assigned international projects.

Programme Objectives:
  • Provide career development and foundational learning for recent graduates and those who have limited experience within the international development field.
  • Develop basic project management, technical and business skills.
  • Encourage and enhance YP’s understanding of the business culture and work practices of the GRM Futures Group.
  • Ensure that these YPs are given opportunities to develop their professional expectations and working standards.

Minimum education and experience required
  • Relevant master’s degree.
  • Specialized education or experience relating to international development or relevant sector.

Reporting to the Senior Manager- Core Network - the holder of the position will ensure /oversee optimal configurations of the Signaling Network to offer best quality of service to Safaricom Customers. The key responsibilities will include among others, Optimization of the signaling Nodes within Core Network; Acceptance of the New Signaling Nodes; Core Network signaling Fault management and Integration of New Signaling nodes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively works within the team to optimize the operational performance of Signaling infrastructure and ensure maximum availability of services;
  • Be the team lead in solving Signaling faults;
  • Optimization of the network in accordance with the Configuration Best Practices;
  • Carryout quality related investigations and implement the corrective measures;
  • Organize, supervise and document disaster recovery tests;
  • Oversee accurate execution and closure of Signaling network changes;
  • Carry our Impact analysis of all Signaling network changes;
  • Check and approve implementation of configuration changes in the signaling network to accommodate business needs;
  • Work closely with planning & strategy team in scoping and design of new signaling network Elements;
  • Transfer knowledge to Engineers;
  • Build internal and external relationships with key customers and suppliers to deliver continuous quality solutions to business.
Role requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Information Technology from a recognized university;
  • At least 3 years work experience on Signaling in a telecommunication environment either support or planning role;
  • Experience in Fault resolution by analysis of various trends and data from interfacing systems;
  • Experience in SS7 /Sigtran and Diameter routing;
  • Knowledge of IP Routing is an added advantage;
  • Knowledge on SBC/SIP.

HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER POSITION

Reporting to the Head, Employee Relations, the job holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining high standards of health and safety in the workplace in order to optimize long term staff productivity to support business growth and ensure regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities of Health and Safety Manager
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
  • Develop, implement and maintain the Health and Safety management framework based on best practices to meet on-going and future business requirements;
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to develop and maintain high standards of health and safety in terms of the work environment for all employees and customers;
  • Develop and steward annual Safety, Health and Wellness programs which are consistent with company policy and ensure regulatory compliance;
  • Coordinate the setting up and maintaining Health and Safety Committees within the Bank in all branches/units and monitor meetings held by the Committees.
  • Formulate, develop and implement Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Organization;
  • Develop a companywide health & safety incident log database and publish trend analysis for all reported incidents;
  • Coordinate investigation and reporting to the Occupational Safety Health Officer incidents/accidents/work related injuries/dangerous occurrences and Occupational diseases in line with the Occupational Safety & Health (2007) Act;
  • To lead and co-ordinate requisite inspections and assessments (annual safety and health audits, fire safety audits, risk assessments etc) and risk reduction mitigations as required.
  • Collate and coordinate implementation of health and safety issues raised by health and safety committees, health and safety auditor, and fire safety auditor.
  • In liaison with Human Resource Division and Management, identify and steward Health & Safety Trainings for all employees;
  • Disseminate workplace health and safety information and instruction to all employees and other persons.
  • Liaise with Head of Security to ensure that all employees are given instructions in the safe use of firefighting appliances and that firefighting teams are established in every workplace.
  • Ensure that evacuation procedures to be used during emergency are in place and that they are being tested at regular intervals.
  • Manage health talks/member education/training on HIV/AIDS
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive contractor safety management process;
  • Develop and implement effective work control procedures to be utilized consistently by all employees and contractors;
The Person
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies;
  • Must be in possession of a Science based Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. An additional degree in Occupational Safety & Health will be an added advantage;
  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in Operations, Environment and Health and Safety Management; two of which should be in Safety Audits and Quality Management systems
  • At least two years operational experience in implementing Health & Safety Management Systems in a large and busy organization will be a distinct advantage;
  • Thorough knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (2007) Act, Environment Management and Coordination Act, Water regulations, Air Quality regulations and other Health & Safety related regulatory requirements;
  • Good understanding of Risk Assessment and Hazard analysis process;
  • Good understanding of incident investigation process;
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to influence and make decisions;
  • A proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

IT SERVICE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Client Support in IT Service Delivery Unit, the job holder will be responsible for the operational management of ITIL Processes implementation including planning and coordination of all activities required to carry out, monitor and report on the ITIL processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance across processes and collaborate with other process managers, Change management, release management and problem management.
  • Initiate process maturity improvements, integrate processes and supporting tools in liaison with other process owners and act as a back-up for problem and change management.
  • Be accountable for the following ITIL Processes – Business Relationship Management (BRM), Event Management, Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) and Service Level Management (SLM).
  • Plan and coordinate new deployments which include support processes, documentation, IT Service trainings, workshops etc.
  • Manage day to day Service Level Management needs for IT working closely with project managers, head office SLA liaisons and branch clients to ensure service levels are met and exceeded.
  • Manage the framework for describing services in an IT Service Catalogue, ensure the service catalogue is updated as services are created, maintain up to date service tiering.
  • Assistant Project Manager of KCB ITIL Implementation to ensure success of rolling out the 27 ITIL processes in KCB within the next 18 months.
The Person
  • University Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Systems or related field
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of process management experience
  • Intermediate ITIL qualifications
  • Must have Service Management best practices and significant understanding of ITIL and / or Six Sigma methodology
  • Experience with service desk tools with relevant processes and procedures.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Continual Service Improvement, trending and gap analysis.

TRAINING MANAGER

Reporting to the Head, Learning & Development, the Training Manager will Manage the learning and professional development of employees.  This involves assessing the training needs of the employees, as well as designing and delivering learning solutions for various Business units.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out Training Needs Analysis (TNA) for respective businesses / head office departments and subsidiaries prioritizing the application of training solutions
  • Develop curricular for specific business needs including learning content, learning road maps, presentation of learning material in alignment with current and future business strategy
  • Manage and deliver the whole training cycle including developing and implementing a training calendar
  • Undertake continuous research and development on current and new training methodologies with a view of improving competency level of employees
  • Undertake regular training curriculum reviews with a view of adopting and implementing best practice approaches to training
  • Enhance organizational effectiveness through coaching, consulting and problem solving activities
  • Maintain records and preparing statistical reports to evaluate performance of instructors and monitor progress of trainees
  • Monitor and analyze Learning and Development budget for head office units – keep track of L&D expenditure ensuring reconciliation of L&D accounts and ensure the L& D centre expenditure is within allocated budget
  • Facilitate payments relating to L&D in liaison with HR and Finance teams to ensure that invoices and bills are settled in a timely manner.
  • Preparation and presentation of regular reports in respect of training interventions to varied levels of stakeholders including L&D manager, function heads, etc
  • Managing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including procurement, finance, internal Volunteer trainers and external training providers including review of performance against SLAs and briefing on changing requirements
The Person
  • University Degree from a recognized Institution and Human Resource Professional Qualification.
  • Master’s Degree in any business related field will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of designing and developing training programs.
  • Experience of managing and implementing Training & Development strategies
  • Experience of managing and leading a small team
  • Experience of  managing the whole training cycle including TNA, design, delivery, assessment and evaluation
  • Experience working in a financial institution will be an added advantage
