Our client in the cleaning industry is looking for an experienced Business Development Executive who can improve the organization’s market position.
Only Mombasa residents will be considered. Interviews will be conducted in Mombasa.

Objective of the position: The purpose of this position is to improve an organization’s market position and achieve financial growth. 

This person will build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of cleaning industry market conditions

 

Responsibilities:
 
New Business Development
  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/Principals.
  • Plan approaches and pitches-Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
Client Retention
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
Business Development Planning
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Management and Research
  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure the team meets them.
  • Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Sales
  • 2-3 years experience in sales in the financial, insurance or FMCG industry
  • Computer proficiency

Required skill sets:
·       Bachelor's degree Education, Instructional Design, Communications, IT or related field. A solid understanding of Web technologies is preferred.

  • Have good knowledge of Instructional Design and Storyboarding. This includes ability to:
    • Research, analyze, design, develop and customize instructional materials.
    • Work with different types of input material to create instructional content.

    • Transform raw content into appealing visual/graphical format.

·         Familiarity with multiple Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularlyMoodle & eFront.
·         Demonstrated experience working with subject matter experts and adult learners to develop content.
  • Be able to work with Account Managers and/or Marketing team to analyze project requirement with the clients and suggest solutions.
  • Be proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate effective spoken and written English and excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide instructional design feedback on online modules which are being developed by vendors or volunteers in order to create compelling online learning experiences (this entails using adult learning techniques).
  • Monitor courses currently available through OIS's online platform to collect feedback and refine material and approaches if necessary.
  • Applicants with advanced knowledge of HTML5/HTML/CSS/PHP will have an added advantage.
  • Ability to write, edit and proofread own work.
  • Keep current with instructional technology through self-motivated and self-directed professional development.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently within a team-based, fast-paced atmosphere with high standards for quality, accuracy, and innovation.
This candidate should also possess strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, and work on multiple projects simultaneously with great efficiency and attention to detail.

Terms of Reference for Consultant Data Analyst

Background
: The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA, www.agra.org) is a not-for-profit organization working with African governments, other donors, NGOs, the private sector, and African farmers to significantly and sustainably improve the productivity and incomes of resource poor  smallholder farmers in Africa. 
AGRA aims to ensure that smallholders have what they need to succeed: good seeds and healthy soils; access to markets, information, financing, storage and transport; and policies that provide them with comprehensive support. 
Recognizing that inappropriate or poorly implemented policies can blunt incentives for investment in productivity-enhancing products and services, AGRA’s Policy and Advocacy Program leads the organization’s efforts to strengthen Africa’s food and agricultural policy systems over the long-term while spurring reform and innovation in the short-term.

AGRA has developed a new Advocacy Strategy. Under the Strategy, AGRA’s advocacy mission is to be a clear and consistent voice for an evidence-based, market-driven, smallholder farmer-led Green Revolution in Africa. The anticipated outcomes of AGRA advocacy are: (1) scaled innovative models; and (2) reformed policies.

In view of the above, AGRA seeks a consultant to support analytical and writing work related to implementation of the new Advocacy Strategy. The consultant will use his/her expertise to acquire, organize, analyze, and load data related to AGRA and its investments, and to the countries and value chains in which AGRA invests, aiming to build an understanding about opportunities, challenges and priorities for policy reform and scaling innovative models.

Scope of Work: Using methods of data mining, statistics, and data visualization, the consultant will assist staff in AGRA’s Policy and Advocacy Program to identify and present underlying trends and patterns in macro and micro variables relevant to AGRA’s mandate. 

The consultant will perform advanced analytics on large unstructured and structured datasets related to African and global agricultural development, aiming to measure, interpret, and predict trends and patterns of relevance to AGRA.

Education
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Agriculture, Geography, Statistics, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business, or equivalent work experience. 
  • A Masters degree preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in agricultural development-related activities in Africa;
  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience in data analysis and data integration;
  • 2+ years of quantitative research experience, with a strong emphasis on spatial analysis and detailed report preparation.
Skills and Attributes
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access);
  • Experience in using software programs such as Excel, SPSS and SAS for data analysis;
  • Basic knowledge of GIS tools or data (e.g. ArcGIS) and relational databases (e.g. SQL Server - Spatial);
Duration: This position will be open for a period not exceeding 6 months with the possibility of extension based on the need for further assistance in this area and funding availability.

Technical Manager
 
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the overall purpose of this position is to manage underwriting and claims settlement activities for WIBA, PA, Liability and miscellaneous insurance classes of general insurance business.

Key Responsibility Areas:
  • Responsible for activities and decisions regarding acceptance and policy wording of insurance risks.
  • Set up and maintain relevant up-to-date underwriting and claims structures including relevant contracts, policies and manuals for effective insurance risk management.
  • Ensure that the company meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities in underwriting and claims processing.
  • Analyze claims data and ensure that all relevant issues relating to loss ratio, re-insurance arrangements and product pricing are identified and communicated to relevant functions.
  • Staff development.
  • Preparation of periodical statistics as well as management reports.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Ability
 
Academic Qualifications:

Professional Qualifications:

Experience:
  • 7 years’ working experience in insurance, 2 of which should have been at supervisory level in the specified classes of business indicated above.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of IT systems that support insurance business as well as other business support systems.
  • Involvement in IT systems implementation will be an added advantage
