The incumbent will be based in Kakuma Refugee Camp as the focal person for Child Protection Case Management. He/she will engage actively with interagency partners and sector staff (both national and refugee) to ensure the best possible service provision to Unaccompanied and Separated Children, and other children presenting with protection concerns.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate the Child Protection Case Management team, including the identification and documentation of all children with protection concerns

Supervise a team of national and refugee staff to undertake daily case management activities with a focus on capacity building and strengthening community based child protection mechanisms

Maintain systems to ensure that Unaccompanied and Separated children arriving in the camp are identified upon arrival, provided with safe, sustainable alternative care and are referred to Family Tracing and Reunification services as required (where consent is provided)Coordinate mobilisation, assessment and training for foster carers, community committees, children leaving care and other groups as relevant

Ensure that weekly situation reports, as well as monthly, quarterly, mid-year and annual reports meet donor requirements and accurately reflect the project activities undertaken

Work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to assess the needs of children in the camp, develop proposals and undertake program planning

Continue to build a child-centred approach to case management activities and ensure the meaningful participation of community stakeholders in all stages of planning and implementation

Write concept papers, feature stories and document child rights project milestones in Kakuma refugee Camp.

Ensure that the best interests of the child is at the heart of all Case Management interventions, with consideration to psychosocial needs and attention to groups of highly vulnerable children, such as UASC, CAAFAG, child survivors of abuse, working children, child parents, and children with disabilitiesQualifications and Experience

Undergraduate degree in Social work/ Social Sciences or equivalent, preferably with 2 years work experience in social work or with development-related organizations

Knowledge of community based child protection approaches and Alternative Care Processes for UASC, preferably including experience in participatory approaches (PRA/PLA) and child participation methodologies

Comprehensive knowledge of case management and BIA processes for children at risk, particularly in Emergency settings

Proficiency in IT including ability to use MS application packages ( Word, Excel and database software)

Strong writing skills and experience in preparing quality reports

Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing program priorities, including emergency priorities that may arise

Strong self-starter, able to take initiative and adapt to changing circumstances and prioritiesPersonal Attributes

High levels of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility

Ability to work independently with guidelines and clear expectations

Strong inter-personal and team building skills

Acceptance of cultural, education and religious diversity in the work place
