Jitegemee Trust Limited - General Manager

  • Reporting to the Board of Trustees you will be expected to: develop a strategic plan against this new framework and be responsible for its effective implementation; provide leadership to the organization; increase and effectively manage the grant-funding from varied sources (institutional, corporate etc.) to deliver the Strategic Plan; and initiate, develop and maintain a range of working relationships with stakeholders, including development partners, donors and implementing partners.
    Key responsibilities
  • Development of a strategic plan that is in line with the new strategic framework for the BoD approval;
  • Development, and regular review, of a local and international fund-raising strategy and implementation plan in line with the new strategy. This will entail the development of concept papers and quality proposals, targeted at both out-country and in-country donors including corporate, traditional and non-traditional external donors;
  • Diversification of grants income as per targets agreed in the Strategic Plan; including planning, implementation and evaluation of the company’s investments;
  • Effective management of relationships with the various donors and development partners;
  • Effective management of grants including the review of grants systems and provision of quality and timely reports to the various stakeholders; and
  • Overall management of the organization to ensure the effectively delivery of its mandate, including a workable organization structure, appropriate staffing, adequate operating systems as well as effective people and performance management.
    Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, or other related discipline; a Master’s degree in Business Administration is a significant advantage
  • Over 10 years experience, at least 5 years at a senior level, in a large development organization, preferably with a micro-finance and/or micro-enterprise programme
  • Proven experience in fundraising, strategic planning and marketing; this includes proposals development for different donor in line with their requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in programme design, development, in particular, programme improvement, Networking, M&E and report writing.
  • Solid grant management experience, including ability to identify challenges and work with teams to propose possible solutions
  • A good understanding of capacity building; proven experience is preferable and in particular facilitating and influencing experience
  • A commitment to and understanding of participatory approaches to development with strong negotiation, networking and relationship development skills
  • Planning skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Proven leadership and people management ability including strong team building and motivational skills
