Chief of Party

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) intends to recruit a Chief of Party to provide overall strategic and programmatic direction to a forthcoming health service delivery program in 1-2 regions in Kenya. The Chief of Party will work in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Kenya, the Government of Kenya, and other stakeholders to guide a team of diverse partners and technical experts in the implementation of all project activities, and will be responsible for overseeing all contract management functions. The Chief of Party will be based in Nairobi or Mombasa for the duration of the project.
Job Responsibilities: • Facilitate critical, collaborative relationships with the Government of Kenya (GoK), health authorities and facilities at the county and sub-county levels, U.S. Government agencies, implementing partners, and other key stakeholders. • Oversee the design and implementation of activities to support integrated service delivery and addressing the social determinants of health in technical areas including HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning and tuberculosis, MNCH, and water and sanitation. • Ensure that project activities are tailored to specific regional health needs and align with GoK policies and strategies. • Manage the development of annual workplans and oversee program operations and reporting • Ensure compliance with USAID rules and regulations, EGPAF policies, Kenyan law, and Ministry of Health (MOH) guidelines.
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher in Medicine, public health or related field • At least 15 years of successful experience managing and implementing complex, integrated health programs in resource-limited settings, including at least 5 years of experience working on USAID-funded programs; experience in Kenya strongly preferred • Proven experience providing technical guidance in HIV/AIDS, malaria, family planning, tuberculosis, and/or maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), and/or other related technical areas • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and facilitate coordination with diverse partners and stakeholders, including government agencies, implementing organizations, and development partners at the national, district, and community levels • Exceptional leadership skills and experience managing large, dynamic and multi-functional teams • Thorough understanding of the functioning of Kenya health delivery systems, current health sector programs, strategies and implementation plans • Proficiency in English is required; additional proficiency in Kiswahili a plus
