URC is looking for individuals to fill the position of Quality Improvement Advisor-Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) for USAID funded project Applying Science to strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST). The project is a global leader in the implementation, advocacy, development and promotion of cost-effective methods to design and improve healthcare services and systems in developing and middle income countries.
Position summary:
Reporting to the Senior Quality Improvement Advisor for OVC, the Quality Improvement Advisor – Orphans and Vulnerable Children work in collaboration with USAID Partners and the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and services (MLSS&S) to ensure that all Quality Improvement activities are aligned with the vision and objectives of the Care that Counts Global Initiative for OVC Program, the ASSIST work plan and the MLSS&S priorities.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance to MLSS&S, partners and implementers in Quality Improvement for OVC Programmes.
  • Support MLSS&S to institutionalize Quality Improvement through the development of standards, job aids and guidelines.
  • Provide technical leadership in implementation of service standards with major USAID funded partners and other OVC Implementers in Kenya.
  • Develop and update materials for trainings, learning sessions and coaching visits.
  • Document the Quality Improvement process for OVC Programmes, through mainstreaming of the standards based approach.
  • Present evidence and advocate for Quality Improvement for OVC Programmes across all levels of implementing partners.
  • Organize workshops in collaboration with MLSS&Ss Department of Children Services and the National Social Protection Secretariat, USAID funded implementers and other OVC implementers in the country.
Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:
  • A Masters degree in Sociology, Anthropology or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in Quality Improvement methods in a social welfare setting.
  • Demonstrated strong program implementation and organizational skills.
  • Technical expertise and with more than seven years experience in OVC programming in Kenya, experience in working with the government at the national level will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with policy makers and community based response to HIV and AIDS issues in Kenya.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the field as and when required.
  • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
