  • Kenyatta University is looking to recruit qualified and dedicated applicants for vacant positions in the following offices:
    1. Information Communication Technology (ICT) Systems Administration – GRADE 12
    Job Summary:
    The post holder will be responsible for administration of Kenyatta University systems.
    This will include the installation, configuration and support of both hardware and software systems in particular Windows and Linux operating systems.
    The post holder will also be one of the key leads in new projects implementation and will report to the Director ICT.
    Qualifications:
    Essential:
  • Must have at least a Bachelors Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a technical related field from a recognized institution
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Linux Certified Professional (RHCE/ LPIC)Desirable:
  • Masters Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related field or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • ITIL Certified
  • Evidence of continuous professional developmentExperience and Abilities:
    Essential:
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge and at least three (3) years experience of Window Server Platforms and Applications (AD, DNS, DHCG, WSUS, WDS) in a busy IT environment
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge and at least three (3) years experience of Linux Server Platforms (SuSE, CentOS, Ubuntu) in a busy IT environment
  • Must have hands on experience with Server Virtualization Platforms (VMware, XenServer, Hyper-V)
  • Must have hands on experience with disaster recovery/ system backup solutions (Symantec Backup Exec)
  • Must have hands on experience with storage area networks(Equallogic, NetApp)
  • Must have hands on experience with ISCI/FC Switches
  • Must have hands on experience with blade architecture
  • Ability to use the system monitoring and management tools (Solarwinds, Nagios)
  • Good understanding of network systems – Routing, Subnetting
  • Good understanding and experience of SSL Certificates, configuration and implementation
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and produce concise documentation

    Job Summary:
    The post holder will be responsible for administration of Kenyatta University security.
    The role will entail configuration and administration of firewall rules, VPN setup and configuration, vulnerability assessments, system hardening, system log checks and preparation of monthly security reports.
    The post holder will also be one of the key leads in new security projects implementation, testing and recommendation of new systems and will report to the Director ICT.
    Qualifications:
    Essential:
  • Must have at least a Bachelors Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a technical related field from a recognized institution
  • Checkpoint Certified Systems Administrator (CCSA) OR Cisco Certified Network Associate – Security (CCNA – Security)Desirable:
  • Masters Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) related field or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • ITIL Certified
  • Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH)
  • Member of a professional body (CSK)
  • Evidence of continuous professional developmentExperience and Abilities:
    Essential:
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge and at least three (3) years experience of Checkpoint Products (NGX/ Gaia) or Cisco Security Products (ASA/ PIX/ IPS) in a busy IT environment
  • Must have hands on experience with Wireless Systems – Cisco Wireless Controllers, Access Points, Radius Server
  • Must have a good understanding of encryption algorithms, VPN setup
  • Experience working with SSL Certificates, configuration and implementation
  • Must have hands on experience with Linux/ Unix operating systems
  • Must have hands on experience with Desktop Security Systems - McAfee/ Kaspersky Enterprise Security Systems
  • Must have hands on experience and understanding of network systems – TCP/ IP, Switching, Routing, Subnetting
  • An excellent understanding of penetration testing processes and remedial actions
  • Ability to use the system monitoring and management tools (Solarwinds, Nagios)
  • Ability to design system hardening processes and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and produce concise documentation
  • Ability to analyze and apply technical knowledge to solving complex IT problemsDesirable:
  • Experience in Public Sector especially in Higher Education3. E-Learning Specialist – GRADE 11
    The e-Learning Technician is responsible for supporting, designing and developing on-demand learning content for the e- Learning Management System (LMS).
    This person will create e-learning programs, update current programs, and develop scenario-based learning programs under the guidance of the unit/ course Lecturer.The e-Learning Technician will report to the Director of e-Learning.
    Qualifications:
  • BSc Computer Science/ Software Engineering specializing in Instructional design, Instructional Systems Design, or related field
  • At least three (3) years work experience in an e-learning environment
  • Proven experience of e-learning platforms
  • Proven experience of video editing tools
  • Proven experience of photo editing tools ( e.g. Adobe PhotoShop)
  • Required proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively
  • Manage multiple and concurrent projects
  • Experience in working within the education sector is an added advantageOther skills:
  • Graphic design skills
  • Instructional design and adult learning experience
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with staff across schools and campuses and at all levels of the University
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Candidates should be willing to show work samples, including e-learning programs built using online self-study development applicationsThose with BSc IT and four (4) years experience will be considered as long as they satisfy the above conditions.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement a variety of e-learning programs that incorporate multiple learning activities for scenario-based learning
  • Collaborate with Schools & Campuses e-Learning Coordinators and the ICT Directorate on design and development of training material and content
  • Update LMS content regularly and help repurpose current on-site training content
  • Help transfer knowledge to other team members
  • Assist in creating outlines and determining different delivery methods (Face-to-face, webbased, and/ or computer – based) for each class
  • Oversee quality control of learning deliverables
  • Perform other duties as assigned (like writing scripts, creating presentation, and developing course handouts)
  • Determines the best manner of executing e-learning(visual, auditory or kinesthetic)within each program4. E-Learning Technician – GRADE C/D
    Qualifications:
  • B. Sc Degree in Computer Science/ Computer Engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • KCE Division II/ KCSE Mean Grade C+ (Plus) and above
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a busy e-learning environment5. E-Learning Technician – GRADE A/B
    Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or Information Communication Technology or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • KCE Division III/ KCSE Mean Grade C (plain) and above
  • Professional certification in CCNA/ MCSE/CISA or ORACLE
  • At least two (2) years relevant work experience in a busy organizationOffice of the Vice-Chancellor
    Internal Audit Office
    6. Internal Auditor – GRADE 12
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) from a recognized institution and CPA (K).
  • At least six (6) years work experience as an Auditor in a recognized institution
  • Computer literateApplicants with CISA or CIA certificate will have added advantage.
    Terms of Service:
    The terms of service for non teaching positions include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance.
    Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance - based contract and gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.
