HR OFFICER - KENYA
Purpose:To assist and support the provision of full HR services necessary for the successful accomplishment of m2m’s strategic and operational goals. The position reports to the Country Representative and is based in Nairobi.
Key Outcomes:
  • Provide HR assistance and support to all staff
  • Responsible for competency based recruitment and selection
  • Coordinate orientation workshop for new employees
  • Coaching of leaders/managers on their people related performance and other issues
  • Coordinate the Implementation and tracking of performance management process
  • Analyse training needs in conjunction with departmental managers
  • Advise on disciplinary and grievance procedures, and maintain professional employee relations
  • Support the implementation of employee benefits, terms and conditions of employment
  • Interpreting and advising on employment law
  • Conduct research into HR best practices and other related areas where required
  • Work closely with HR team to deliver on HR strategy
  • Update staff medical insurance
  • Update personnel changes to HR HQ before the cut-off date
  • Review payroll changes monthly
  • Manage the HR filing system
  • Coordinate employee wellness implementation, particularly for site staff
Knowledge, Experience and Competencies required:
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in HR, Behavioural Sciences, or a related field
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience at a similar level covering the entire spectrum of HR work
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a NGO
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office and HR System
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili essential
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential matters in a professional and ethical manner
  • Well-developed presentation, facilitation and decision making skills
  • Well-developed HR administrative skills (fair understanding of payroll and other employee benefits, leave administration, etc.)
  • A strong understanding of Kenya labour law and HR best practices
