Senior Financial Advisory, Transaction, & Investment Advisors (East Africa)

SSG Advisors is accepting applications from qualified Senior Financial Advisory, Investment and Transaction Specialists applicants for multiple anticipated USAID-Funded projects in Kenya and the East African region. SSG is looking for both long term and sort term advisory candidates.

Responsibilities

The anticipated USAID funded projects seek to spur transformational economic growth, improved livelihoods and quality of life in East Africa, including through the facilitation of domestic, regional and international financing and investment in the areas of agriculture and agribusiness, renewable energy, light manufacturing, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sectors. The projects are also anticipated to support impact investments and program related investments (PRIs) on the parts of foundations and other non-profit sources of finance. SSG Advisors and its team anticipate providing critical support throughout the transaction cycle of both small and large investments in targeted sectors. SSG Advisors seeks up to three senior staff (for different projects) to lead transaction support and financial advisory teams on a long-term basis. These lead financial advisory, transaction or investment specialists will be tasked with engaging partners to identify a pipeline of viable projects or growing business (small, medium and large) to receive transaction support; develop and maintain relationships with a variety of sources of financial institutions, including commercial banks, development banks, investment banks, impact funds and private equity funds active in East Africa; and manage the delivery of financial advisory services to client enterprises in target sectors to facilitate access to finance. Where necessary, the Advisors will work with financial institutions to develop new finance instruments aimed at mobilizing finance in the agriculture, agribusiness, renewable energy, light manufacturing and WASH sectors.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or equivalent in banking, finance, business administration, economics, international and/or agricultural development, international relations or related field.
• At least ten years of experience, preferably in Africa working in the area of finance, banking, financial advisory services and/or investment
• Extensive experience working with commercial investment, development banks, financial services companies in international finance or in the East Africa region. Existing relationships with East African funds and financial institutions preferred.
• Experience in originating, analyzing and structuring financial transactions
• Experience catalyzing development results in the agriculture, agribusiness, renewable energy, light manufacturing and WASH sectors through the mobilization of private sector capital.
