Since 2001, AKU has offered academic programmes in nursing, medicine and education for and currently in three countries in East Africa. AKU has seven hospitals and over 250 outreach health centres.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the following position:
Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery
(Based in Nairobi, Kenya)
Reporting to the Provost, the Dean, School of Nursing and Midwifery, will define nursing educational needs in East Africa and develop programmes that meet those needs.
S/he will serve as a member of the senior management team of the University in the region and liaise with governments, donor agencies and AKDN partners on behalf of the University.
The incumbent will provide academic and administrative leadership in the management of all the operations of the nursing programme and take the lead in fostering faculty development and ensuring a research culture that responds to the needs of the environment.
The ideal candidate for the above position should be a Registered Nurse and have a PhD, with substantial experience in education, research, professional service, faculty development and leadership in academic administration.
S/he should have demonstrated a commitment to the development of the nursing profession, with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges in the local East African Region and in the international environment.
Those with international experience will be preferred.
