A global diamond mining leader with open pit operations in Southern Africa, are currently recruiting for a Boilermaker Technical Coach to join their team.
Job Summary
To ensure optimal levels of services to meet operation and customer requirements through training and mentoring of workforce, focusing on Safety as priority number one element.
Minimum Requirements
- Have completed a recognized apprenticeship in Boiler making
- 12 years post apprenticeship experience in boiler making maintenance in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
- Maintenance and diagnostic skills on relevant equipment.
- Preferably have experience in the maintenance of structures and plant infrastructure including pump stations, piping and general fabrication.
Key Activities
- Ensure timely, efficient and safe completion of tasks
- Carry out efficiently and effectively preventative maintenance and repairs to structural equipment elements and installations
- Trainees follow processes and procedures to provide accurate and timely feedback to the Mechanical/Boilermaking Foreman or Maintenance Engineer on conditions that may affect the functionality of assets and/or production
- Ensure that a high standard of quality workmanship is maintained
- Carry out fabrication work and associated corrective maintenance in order to improve plant or asset availability, reliability, safety or functionality
- Carry out trouble shooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment down-time events
- Maintain equipment availability and reliability by assisting the Mechanical/Boiler making maintenance team in minimizing equipment breakdowns and/or unplanned work
- Compliance with Safety standards and requisite legal and statutory inspections
- Maintenance of boiler making workshop facilities
- Implementation of good practices in the maintenance field
- Embed the Work Management Process
- Assist in the training and upgrading of the workforce through successful skills transfer
- Train a multi-disciplinary team in all aspects of engineering maintenance
- Assist maintenance Engineer in devising employee performance processes to ensure optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to bring to the attention of the Mechanical/Boiler making Foreman / Engineer any substandard employee performance or behavior
- Provide technical input into development of training packages
- Assist in implementing and driving training and development programmes to enhance the workforce skill set.
