Information Technology & Communications (ITC) Assistant
Under the general administrative supervision of the Head Sub Office, Kakuma and the direct supervision the Information Technology Officer in Nairobi the incumbent will be responsible for providing daily technical support and troubleshooting of all computer systems with consideration to the needs and requirements of the mission.
He/she specifically will be responsible for:-
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Implementation, management and maintenance of Information Technology and Communication services in IOM Sub Office in Kakuma office and if required IOM supported facilities.
2. Ensure that all helpdesk queries are answered appropriately via email, telephone call or in person.
3. Managing and maintaining the Sub Office’s communication systems/equipment including, mobile lines, PABX, VSAT, VOIP and other sat-phones, Internet access, International Faxing services, HF/VHF Radios and all other communication related matters.
4. Installation, configuration and upgrading desktop and laptop computers and software used in the mission.
5. Assist in installation, operation and administration of the security for the various system and network components, including protection against viruses, access to email and Internet, relational database management systems and implementation of ITC disaster recovery services.
6. Ensuring data and system integrity by setting up and administrating IT security systems: anti-virus, backup routines, access controls, firewall and physical security.
7. Testing and suggesting new software packages, which can improve the overall efficiency of the mission
8. Providing appropriate IT/Communication training to all users in the Mission.
9. Maintaining necessary documentation for system maintenance and support procedures in IOM Kakuma sub Office and IOM supported facilities.
10. Performing any other duties as required for time to time.
11. Perform such other related duties as may be assigned inclusive TDY out of Kakuma
Education and Experience
1. University Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in LAN/WAN networking environment.
3. Working knowledge of: Windows Server 2008 software in a multi-site environment, Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, TCP/IP Protocol, Cisco Router Configuration, Windows 7 administration.
4. Experience with HP/Compaq, IBM, and Cisco and Siemon equipment.
5. Strong knowledge and working experience with Codan HF Radio systems data/mail replications plus Codan software
6. Ability to design and configure networks
7. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MSCE) certification and/or Cisco Certifications an added advantage. 8. Experience in working in an international organization
