Project Coordinator, USAID/OFDA & FFP Somalia Monitoring Project, Nairobi, Kenya

Background:

Objective:
The purpose of this 1-year contract is to establish a third-party monitoring system to verify and provide independent confirmation of programs in Somalia funded by USAID’s Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) and Office of Food for Peace (FFP) within the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) at USAID. The monitoring system will give OFDA and FFP staff accurate and verifiable information about funded programs. The project is expected to begin fall 2014.
Position Description:
Social Impact is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to provide database, data verification and management assistance to the Chief of Party and the Field Monitors. The Project Coordinator will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for managing the data collection and data verification activities;
  • Coordinate the field activities train the data collection staff, supervise the database management, verify the data collected, ensure accurate data is submitted on time and according to the requirements, and;
  • Serve as lead field monitor when necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a university degree, in a subject area relevant to the work;
  • Must have at least five years of experience in the humanitarian, transition, or development field, including extensive use and application of qualitative inquiry methods and results;
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, computer skills, and team management skills;
  • Ability to interact with public, private, and civil society leaders and groups concerning data collection and surveying for project verification and monitoring purposes is important;
  • Must have extensive knowledge of and experience in Somalia.
