UNDP Somalia

TASK

The Community Security Project implemented by UNDP Somalia is looking for the support of an online volunteer to assist in the review and reporting on qualitative information collected from Focus Group Discussions and Key Information interviews in order to complement and enhance the information gathered through quantitative means (surveys and incidents reporting) under the Community Security Index (CSI) initiative.
The task will also include liaising and supporting the local researchers team via email and Skype conferencing, thereby contributing to knowledge transfer and capacity building.
The qualitative reports will be required in four waves (after subsequent data collection) and a report will be expected every other month from October 2014 to February 2015.
UNDP will provide all the information and collaboration needed from its team to achieve the objectives of the assignment.
The online volunteer will receive due credit for their contribution.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Community Security Index is developed to measure the effectiveness and social impact of UNDP Governance and Rule of Law interventions(community security, justice, local governance and policing) in the target districts. In each region a district is selected where concentrated UNDP support is provided and a district in each region with largely similar demographic attributes but with none or limited UNDP support. The initiative aims to understand the overall impact of the area based interventions.

OBJECTIVE

The Community Security Project aims to strengthen peace and prosperity for Somalia by providing a platform for dialogue and building social resilience.Through research and assessment, information collection provides an understanding of local physical and non-physical security contexts.Qualitative research analysis and reporting will provide more in-depth understanding of the quantitative information gathered to include exploratory information regarding why trends emerge in the quantitative data.
