GIZ International Services is preparing to submit an offer for the up-coming EIB-funded project 'Support for the implementation of 'Shelter Afrique's' social and affordable housing program'. The primary objective of this technical assistance project is to support 'Shelter Afrique' in the implementation and monitoring of its EIB funded portfolio.This includes support to the identification, appraisal, implementation and monitoring of social and affordable housing schemes. Other important objectives include capacity building of 'Shelter Afrique' and other project stakeholders, as well as institutional strengthening of 'Shelter Afrique'.
Your tasks
The Team Leader (m/f) will be responsible for the overall program coordination and execution, including (but not limited to) supervision of professional staff, establishment and review of programmatic and budgetary priorities, submission of required plans and reports, and communication and coordination with all stakeholders.
Your profile
  • Postgraduate degree from a recognized university in urban planning, urban management, architecture, governance or other relevant fields.
  • 10 or more years of related experience in urban management projects of which at least 5 years in developing countries.
  • Experience as Team Leader in at least two long-term assignments in developing countries. Experience in the management of EU-funded projects will be an advantage.
  • Substantive knowledge of issues covered by the contract, namely (i) housing project management, (ii) environmental and social management of urban and housing development projects, (iii) real estate and land development and (iv) capacity building on urban and housing development matters.
  • Ability to interact in different cultural and multi-stakeholder environments and to create good working relationships at all levels.
  • Working experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of English is essential. Knowledge of French will be an advantage.
Assignment period
36 months starting in February 2015
Information on place of assignment
Kenya, with regular travel to selected African countries
