Global Coordinator, Dairy
Duty station: The Hague, The Netherlands or Nairobi, Kenya
SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation with long-term, local presence in over 30 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our team of advisors works with local partners to equip communities and businesses with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services. SNV works across three sectors: Agriculture, Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Several international donors fund our programmes. SNV has a +100 million euro annual turnover and is aiming for further growth.
THE ROLE
In order to strengthen the development of SNV’s global dairy programme SNV requires the services of an expert with a strong background in dairy to (1) strengthen SNV’s global position in dairy (2) develop new dairy business for SNV (3) provide technical assistance to SNV projects as per project contracts and support country dairy teams in running projects 4) lead SNV’s dairy team, develop sustainable and innovative dairy solutions, and coordinate learning and (5) maintain and expand SNV’s relations and partnerships with the dairy industry.
The Global Coordinator is supervised by the Managing Director, Agriculture and will work closely with the Dairy project managers, Country Directors and country-based Agriculture Sector Leaders.
TASK RESPONSIBILITIES/DELIVERABLES
· Lead SNV’s dairy team;
· Develop new dairy business development by initiating and technically leading new dairy proposals;
· Provide technical assistance (TA) to SNV dairy projects, as per donor contracts;
· Lead in solution development, dairy exchanges and events;
· Maintain and expand SNV’s relations and strategic partnerships in the dairy industry;
· Attend key global and regional events on dairy on behalf of SNV;
· Coordinate dairy learning, develop key publications on best practices on dairy;
· Provide contents on dairy to SNV’s communications team.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
· Master’s Degree or higher degree in a discipline relevant to Dairy, e.g. livestock, agriculture;
· Credible international track record and expertise in designing and implementing dairy programmes;
· Proven experience in business case development and resource mobilization;
· Excellent social and networking skills, ability to engage with governments and the private sector;
· Strong network of professional connections with relevant stakeholders in the dairy sector;
· Visionary and able to strategically inspire and energise teams;
· Excellent communication (written and oral), reporting and presentation skill;
· Proficiency in English required; a working knowledge of French is an advantage.
CONTRACT INFORMATION
CONTRACT TYPE: International, national or consultancy contract, depending on duty station and candidate nationality
DUTY STATION: The Hague, the Netherlands or Nairobi, Kenya
CONTRACT PERIOD: 12 months
DESIRED APPOINTMENT DATE: September 2015
