ESTATES MANAGER

ESTATES MANAGER
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university
  • At least seven (7) years experience, five (5) years of which in construction and two (2) years in roads building, construction and maintenance
  • Work experience in a big organization as a Facility Manager/ Maintenance Manager/ Construction Manager/ Site Engineer
  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft project and reporting software programs
  • Registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Wide experience in the administration of staff
  • Preparation of specifications, Bills of Quantities, Schedule of Materials, Cost Estimates and Supervision of the works and project reporting
  • Experience in  the water supply systems, sewerage systems and road maintenance
  • Conversant with local government regulations and other statutory regulations such as NEMA and County Council approvals
  • Conversant with ISO certification
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
  • Knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance
  • Technical knowledge and skills in working with air conditioning and heating systems
  • Knowledge and experience with safety, fire, construction and public access regulations
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintenance of all buildings, generators, roads, pumps as per the  maintenance schedule
  • Maintenance of  water treatment works
  • Maintenance of  power lines, generators and compressors
  • Management and supervision of  all works of Estates Department
  • Preparation of budget for maintenance work and estimates
  • Preparation of periodic reports on the status of the buildings and other installations
  • Provide guidance in the Estates Section of the University
  • Provide estimates for minor projects and repairs in liaison with the University Architect
  • Provide information on data repairs to the management
  • Responsible for supervision of facilities staff and contractors
TERMS OF SERVICE:
The terms for non-teaching positions include a generous medical scheme, house allowance and commuting allowance. Successful candidates will be offered two (2) year renewable performance-based contract and gratuity will be paid at the end of the contract.
