The Position:
Reporting to reporting the Head of Brokerage, the role will be the custodian of the company’s operational policies processes and procedures and responsible for ensuring seamless operations whilst ensuring adherence to polices and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with the Finance and other stakeholders during preparation of brokerage financial statements.
- Ensure that Fund Managers and Custodians receive their contract notes on email on T, and the hard copies on T+1 and all other processing is done within agreed turnaround times.
- Ensure that all CDSC functions – immobilization, withdrawals, transfers etc. – are done in a timely manner as per the set standards.
- Build, improve and maintain effective relationships with industry stakeholders i.e. NSE, CDSC, Custodian Banks, Registrars, Fund Managers, Uganda Stock Exchange, Uganda Registrars and CMA.
- Ensure seamless communication between customer service unit and operations. Manage the query resolution process by providing timely responses.
- To ensure all the relevant statutory deductions are remitted to the relevant statutory bodies in a timely manner.
- To liaise with Administration & IT on disaster recovery plan, testing & certification.
- To Liaise with Legal department on complaints with legal implications.
- Support internal and external auditors and inspectors, responding to audit queries, and providing audit information and schedules.
The Person:
For the above position, the successful applicant should have the following:
- University Degree preferably in a business related field.
- Professional qualifications (CFA/KIB/ACIB/CPA/ACCA) or MBA is an added advantage.
- At least 3 years’ proven experience in Brokerage / Custody Back office operations of an Investment Bank or Brokerage.
- Knowledge of operations of the Capital Markets Authority, Nairobi Security Exchange and Central Depository Settlement Corporation.
- Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment, brokerage risk, policies and procedures.
- Have thorough understanding of Capital Markets products and services.
- Experience and relationships with Capital Markets regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of brokerage and advisory business environment, regulations and operations.
- Knowledge of the fixed income and equities market.
- Excellent, high quality interpersonal, presentation, problem solving, negotiation skills with the ability to positively and clearly communicate with a variety of constituents.
- Ability to network through all open channels with large technological dependency for the target market.
- Proven excellent analytical, planning, organization and execution skills.
