Energy Reform Communications Specialist

Duration: 5 years
Salary: Based on experience
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Working with Senior Communications Advisor to coordinate the design and delivery of communications strategy as well as targeted capacity building for local counterparts
• Conducting/managing quantitative and qualitative research to determine stakeholder and public understanding and attitudes toward energy-related transactions and policy reform
• Developing project communications strategy
• Producing weekly notes, briefers, success stories, Power Point presentations, and promotional and other materials highlighting project results
• Developing fact sheets, background sheets, brochures, newsletters, and posters
• Drafting success stories, case studies, and press releases
• Monitoring local media and producing media monitoring reports
• Providing input for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual project reports
REQUIREMENTS
• 7 years of relevant experience, such communications, public affairs, or media
• Masters-level education in communications or similar field
• Qualitative and quantitative research experience
• Experience designing and delivering capacity building to government officials or civil society organizations
• Experience developing communications strategies and producing promotional materials (e.g. posters, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, success stories, etc.)
• Experience with technical reporting
• Previous experience on international development projects
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Demonstrated an ability to work both independently and in team settings
• Fluency in English required
