Position Summary: Pact seeks a Media Coordinator for an anticipated USAID governance program in Kenya focused on devolving fiscal and political power and functions from the central government to the county governments. Objectives include establishing and strengthening the capacity of devolved government structures, county assemblies and working with citizens and civil society to hold devolved structures and elected officials accountable.
The Media Coordinator is responsible for linking with media organisations and NGOs providing capacity building of civil society organisations in working with media. They will also liaise ICT institutions to enhance the capacity of county structures both government and civil society to use technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Network with media institutions
• Identify partners working with civil society and media
• Provide technical oversight to partners working in media sector
• Work with partners to develop media strategies
• Coordinate training in media skills
• Ensure civil society and devolved structures are familiar and using diversity of media
• Coordinate with advocacy and capacity development teams at county level

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in development studies, media or other relevant field. Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 3 years of technical experience working with civil society in Kenya and 3 years in media
• Experience working civil society on human and institutional capacity development
• Substantial technical experience building the organization and technical capacity of civil society organizations and local government.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in Kenya required;
• Ability to efficiently work in teams and coordinate between various stakeholders;
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning within a development project context;
• Familiarity with USAID processes and procedures, rules and regulations highly desired;
• Proven success navigating complex and high pressure operating environments
• Willingness to work at regional level supporting county governments and civil societies.
