The primary responsibility of this role is to further MSI's Goal: The Prevention of Unwanted Births and its mission of ensuring the individual's right to: Children by Choice Not Chance.
MSI has a global internal audit function, providing assurance to the board on its overseas programme delivery and governance. The team currently comprises four field-based internal auditors and the Group Internal Audit Director based in London. The field based auditors are based in locations where MSI has operations; currently two are in Africa, one in India and the other one in Australia. Due to an internal promotion, there is a vacancy in our team based in Africa.
The Role:
Supporting the Director of Internal Audit with the development and delivery of the annual audit plan, you will be expected to plan and undertake fieldwork audits mainly in Africa, but also occasionally overseas as directed by the Director of Internal Audit. You will also be responsible for ensuring that reports are clear and concise and are produced in a timely manner.
This is a challenging, demanding role, but in return, you will be given a lot of independence and flexibility to manage your own schedule. It can also be a training ground for future business leaders - previous holders have gone on to senior leadership roles. Ultimately, this is a mission critical role, ensuring that every pound is spent properly on the mission.
About you
With an extensive financial background, you will preferably be a fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) accountant. An auditing qualification would also be very beneficial.
You should be an experienced auditor - you'll be a one person audit team, so you'll need to be able to manage your own plan, schedule and reporting. Ideally, you will have had some experience as an internal auditor, but for the right person, we may accept someone straight from practice. You'll need to enjoy travelling (60-80% of your time) to other countries and meeting new people.
Business level French would be a distinct advantage.
