We're seeking to recruit qualified, ambitious and experienced Kenyan Education Officers for county-level coordination and implementation of activities for the quality education Project. Improving children’s access to quality and inclusive education in nomadic and semi-nomadic regions of northern Kenya, specifically in Turkana, Garissa and Marsabit counties - Promoting access to quality education in Northern Kenya for Out-of-School Children (OOSC).
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Support the design of community mobilization plan and teacher professional development plan
- Coordinate all community mobilization activities to improve county and community support for access to quality education
- Apply system strengthening approach in working with MoEST and TSC to improve management of schools, curriculum delivery, life skills education and safety of children
- Lead professional development activities for teachers and instructional coaches: Mobile- Mentoring, In-class instructional support for teachers, teacher training
- Monitor all project activities and gather data on project activities, outputs, and outcomes
- Contact person for the quality Education Project in the County
- Keeping regular contact and coordinating activities with other education stakeholders
- Keeping records of the all financial transactions and reporting them to the FCA Nairobi office monthly
- Develop detailed project reports to ensure accountability and transparency to project partners and other stakeholders
- Strengthen capacity of schools and communities to improve enrolment, attendance, learning outcomes and protection for Most Vulnerable Children
- To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the FCA Code of Conduct.
Competence and Personal Requirements:
- A master’s degree from an accredited university in education, guidance, educational administration and supervision, or a related field Working experience in remote communities with marginalized populations
- Experience in educational program administration work such as evaluation and testing; researching and writing educational grant proposals; administration of funded programs; and analysis of educational data
- Administration/supervision of special education programs or student enrollment, youth development and school safety programs.(Experience in increasing primary school enrolment is a must)
- Experienced Primary school teacher with deep knowledge of Kenyan Education system and Kenyan curriculum; will be an added advantage
- Experience in career administration/development in a continuing education programs for teachers, skill assessment for substitute teacher and paraprofessional candidates; and planning and preparation of training programs
- Demonstrated expertise in community mobilization, capacity to engage community and all levels of education stakeholders to promote right to and access to quality education
- Over five years’ experience supporting professional development of Kenyan teachers; including experience in teacher training programs
- Working knowledge of Project Cycle Management
- Strong data collection, analysis and report writing skills
- Good understanding of cross cutting issues such as gender, HIV and AIDS and climate change
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams. Proven team orientation skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Self-driven individual with remote supervisory skills and able to meet deadlines
