An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level entails:
Assessing patients and clients and establishing health care needs
Planning and implementing nursing care interventions based on patients’/clients’ health
needs
Providing appropriate healthcare service, including immunization, ante-natal care,
delivery, referring patients and clients appropriately
Evaluating healthcare outcomes on patients/clients preparing individualized reports
Making appropriate discharge plan for patients
Conducting assessment of school health needs
Planning, implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports
Maintaining records on patients personal and health condition/care
Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment
Ensuring safe custody for in-patients belongings
Conducting home visits, follow up discharged patients and providing continuity of care

Requirements for Appointment
i. Certificate in any off the following disciplines: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled
Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya
Enrolled Psychiatric of enrolled Nurse/Midwife from a recognized training institution;
ii. Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya

2. Enrolled Nurse II – Job Gropup ‘H’ (22 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
Assessing patients and clients and establishing health care needs
Planning and implementing nursing care interventions based on patients’/clients’ health
needs
Providing appropriate healthcare service, including immunization, Prevention of Mother
to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT), ante-natal care, delivery, administration of
medication providing health education and counseling on identified appropriately
Facilitating patient’s admission and discharge in a health facility
Implementing school health interventions and preparing periodic reports
Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment
Ensuring safe custody of in-patients belongings and maintaining records on
patients/clients personal and health condition/care.
Requirements for Appointment
i. Severed in the grade of Enrolled Nurse III, for a minimum period of two (2) years,
ii. Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled
Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse
or Enrolled Nurse/Midwife from a recognized institution
iii. Enrolment certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
iv. Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya

Registered Nurse I (ICU) – Job Group ‘L’ (5 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
Assessing, planning implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s
outcome; diagnosing common health conditions
Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood
Illness (IMCI), Integrated Management of Adolescent and Adulthood illness (IMAI),
immunization and reproductive health
Providing health education and counseling to patients/clients and community on
identified health needs
Referring patients and clients appropriately
Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans
Maintaining records on patients/clients health
condition and care
Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment
Collecting and collating data for research,
Evaluating healthcare outcomes on patients/clients and preparing individualized reports
Conducting assessment of school health needs
Planning, implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports
Identifying occupational health needs and making appropriate recommendations

Duties and Responsibilities
Will work under the supervision and a guidance of a more senior and experienced officer.
Cleaning and sterilizing glass ware, surfaces and equipment
Documenting and receiving samples for analysis
Preparing laboratory reagents;
Carrying out chemicals /microbiological analysis on samples (food, water, waste waters
and beverages):
Extracting, isolating and identifying drugs, pesticides and heavy metals from biological
and miscellaneous samples and
Disposing laboratory waste.
Requirements for Appointment
i. Diploma in any of the following fields:- Applied sciences (Chemistry, Analytical
Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology), Food science and Technology, Medical
Laboratory Technology, Building/Civil engineering, Earth or Sciences Biotechnology
from a recognized institution.

5. Registered Clinical Officers III - Job Group ‘H’ (2 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under
guidance of a senior officer.
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients’ common ailments at an
outpatient or inpatient health facility
Implementing community Health Care activities in liaison with under health workers
Guiding and counseling patients, clients and staff on health issue;
Sensitizing patients and patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill
Collecting and compiling clinical data and
Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities
Requirements for Appointment
i. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health
from recognized institution;
ii. Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council; and

6. Registered Clinical Officers I (Anaesthetist) - Job Group ‘K’ (1
Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients’ common ailments at an
outpatient health facility
Guiding and counseling patients, clients and staff on health issues
Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities
Assessing, preparing and presenting medico-legical reports
Organizing health management teams and convening health management committee
meetings
Implementing community health care activities in liason with other health workers
Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health
Providing clinical outreach and school heath services

7. Radiographer III - Job Group ‘H’ (3 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade for radiographer’s cadre. An officer at this level will
work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced officer. Specific duties will include:
Providing radiographic services to the patients
Processing. verifying and maintaining information relating to patients
Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic and photographic supplies
Requirements for Appointment
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) with grade C
(plain) in English /Kiswahili, Biology/Biological Science or Physics/Physical Sciences and
C- in Mathematics; and
Diploma in any of the following: Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences,
Ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography,
Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Digital Medical imaging equipment or its
equivalent from a recognized institution.

8. Nutrition and Dietetics Technician III - Job Group ‘H’ (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducting nutrition assessment, nutrition screening and referring cases to various
existing programs
Collecting dietetic nutrition data
Carrying out child growth monitoring and promotion activities
Conducting routine weight monitoring for expectant women
Assisting in lifestyle disease prevention and management programs
Running Out Patient Supplementary Feeding Programs and out Patient Therapeutic
Feeding Programs (SFP and OPT)
Carrying out micronutrient supplementation
Preparing monthly reports for use in planning and monitoring nutrition programs
Following up on home based nutrition care
Promoting baby friendly hospital and community initiative
Carrying out nutrition education and counseling of patients in health care facilities
And promoting consumption of fortified foods and dietary diversification at the
community and facility level

9. Pharmaceutical Technologist III - Job Group ‘H’ (4 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will assist senior officers in the provision of pharmaceutical service.
Specific duties and responsibilities will involve dispensing of drugs/medicines and counseling
patients on drug usage in a unit pharmacy.
Key Result Areas
Dispensing
Receiving, interpreting, and processing of prescriptions
Recording prescriptions in a unit pharmacy
Pre-pack, repack and write instructions on the label
Counseling patients on drug usage
Standards of Performance
Drug Register
Maintain books/register of drugs, noting part 1 poisons, showing amount of drugs out and entries
countersigned by immediate supervisor daily.
Frequency
An officer will do stock take of drugs and medicine devices on monthly bases.
Requirements for Appointment
i. A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a mean grade C and at least a C in
Chemistry or physical science, a C in Biology or Biological science and a C in English or
Kiswahili. In addition he/she must possess a C in Physics or Mathematics
OR
A Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) Division two (II) with a credit pass in
Chemistry or Physical Science, Biology and a credit in English or Kiswahili with a pass
in Physics or Mathematics.
OR
An A level certificate with a principal pass in Chemistry or Biology and a subsidiary pass
in either Physics or Mathematics.
ii. Diploma in Pharmacy award by the Kenya Medical Training College or from any other
recognized and
approved institute.
iii. A registration certificate on enrollment as a pharmaceutical technological by the
Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) as per provision of Pharmacy and Poisons Act
(Cap244).
10. Public Heath Assistant II – Job Group ‘H’ (2 Posts)
Duties and Responsibilities
An officer at this level will provide Environmental Health Extension services in the area of
deployment, where specific duties and responsibilities will include:
Mobilizing, sensitizing and advising communities on matters related to environmental
health
Referring health cases to relevant health facilities
Carrying out immunization
Identifying environmental health issues at household level
Organizing community health days to advise communities on common public health
issues
Collecting and maintaining up to date records of services rendered and
Assessing health needs of the community
Requirement for Appointment
Served in the grade of Public Health Assistant III for a minimum period of three (3) years
Certificate in Environmental Health Science or Public Health Technology from a

Duties and Responsibilities
Receiving patients at hospital reception
