Under the direct supervision of the Centre Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following functions:
· Offer basic education to refugees: focusing on English language basic literacy, numeracy skills and computer skills.
· Provide life skills training using a curriculum jointly developed by the Centre Manager, the Social Worker and the incumbent with modules on the approved life skills programs suitable for adults, prevention and response, leadership, human rights etc.
· Determine beneficiaries’’ progress and work on an exit strategy that allows them to earn a livelihood (in case of reintegration) and to provide for themselves and their dependants/significant others.
· In liaison with other departments; assist in the organization and facilitation of capacity building activities for beneficiaries e.g. workshops, health talks, trainings or information dissemination
· Prepare periodic and progress reports on the above mentioned training services
· Attend periodic staff meetings and debriefing sessions,
· Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Education – Completion of a college diploma in education
Experience- Teacher in an ECD setup is an added advantage
Skills and competencies:
· Computer literacy a must
· Good knowledge of human rights doctrine and working experience with refugees and displaced persons;
· Experience in capacity building including facilitation of community-based training and awareness raising;
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Languages:
Proficiency in English and Swahili, knowledge of French is an added advantage
