Summary
*Project Title: Improving school access to secondary school education in Kakuma Refugee Camp
*Project Location: Kakuma, Republic of Kenya
*Project/Contract Duration: 3.5 months (possible for extension)
*Project Objective:
- To give TOT (Training of Trainers) session of Life Skills Education to school teachers
- To give basic technical trainings of building maintenance to school PTA and student group
- To build class rooms of the secondary school
- To supply classroom furniture and learning materials such as textbooks
*Scope of work for Assistant Project Officer
The Assistant Project Officer staff shall,
- Be familiarized with the Life Skills Education
- Be familiarized with the facilitation skill
- Supervise and provide guidance to external experts to conduct TOT session of Life Skills Education
- Supervise and provide guidance to external experts to conduct basic technical trainings of building maintenance
- Supervise delivery and installation of the school furniture and learning materials in school in Kakuma in coordination with suppliers and the school management
- Coordinate and supervise locally-hired contractors and people for project
- Assist in administrative works such as arranging for flight and accommodation for visitors and controlling petty cash for project
- Perform other duties if requested by supervisors
Personnel specification and selection criteria
Experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree holder or higher education
- More than 5 years of experience relevant to the scope of work
- Experience in conducting projects related to Life Skills Education
- Experience in facilitation for workshops and/or seminars
- Experience in working with aid organization (preferred)
- Interest in Peace Education activity
Qualifications required:
- Kenyan citizen, residing in Kenya and able to station in Kakuma
- Strong motivation to be part of an aid organization
- Solid drafting/reporting skills
- Native speaker in Swahili
- Fluency in speaking and writing English
- PC literacy at least including word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheets (MS Excel)
- Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team.
- Strong co-ordination and negotiation skills with stakeholders and problem solving skills
- Culturally sensitive and high level of diplomacy and tact
