Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the United Nations system's designated entity for addressing environmental issues at the global and regional level. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.
The Marine and Coastal Ecosystems Branch, DEPI Iinternship is for 6 months. The Internship is UNPAID and full-time.Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period.
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer with responsibility for the Nutrient Management portfolio of the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (GPA), the intern will:-Prepare various terms of reference to support procurement of experts to carry out studies and other technical work on behalf of UNEP in its role as Secretariat to the Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM).
- Assist in the drafting and finalization of awareness materials and website content such as brochures, leaflets, posters, reports etc.
- Draft technical and policy best practice notes, Executive office-logs, briefing notes and articles on various subject areas on ongoing nutrients management activities of UNEP and the GPNM.-Contribute to the Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM) quarterly newsletter and website updates.
- Assist to plan and execute meetings, virtual and physical, of the Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM) and the GPNM Regional Platforms.-Assist in publishing of relevant Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM) materials including preparing of the publishing form to the Publishing Board.-Undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time.
