Program Officer—Knowledge Management
The Knowledge for Health (K4Health) Project of the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) is seeking a Knowledge Management Program Officer to assist with the knowledge management activities of the Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) Population Health and Environment (PHE) Project. The position will be based in Kisumu, Kenya, at the LVBC Secretariat office, and will assist the Communication Development Awareness Officer (CDAO) to:
- Finalize, disseminate and implement the LVBC Knowledge Management Strategy,
- Populate and maintain the new PHE knowledge portal with evidence, reports, features and documentation.
- Establish systems for keeping the PHE web portal up to date, relevant, and well-used.
- Synthesize information and evidence concerning PHE and package in easily digestible formats.
- Strengthen systems for collecting, cataloguing and sharing knowledge within the LVBC Secretariat and among PHE networks and civil society organizations in the region.
- Identify, document and package PHE success stories for use during advocacy and other forums.
- Assist with other knowledge management related activities as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a bachelor degree in mass communication, journalism, public health or a related field. Postgraduate training or graduate degree in health communication, knowledge management, information and communication technology, and/or graphic design an added advantage.
- At least 3 years’ experience as documentation and communication or knowledge management specialist in a health or development organization.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to interpret graphs, tables, and technical reports and package key information and conclusions in easy-to-understand formats, including data visualization.
- Experience maintaining an interactive website.
- Excellent English language skills.
