Kenya Power owns and operates most of the electricity transmission and distribution system in the country and sells electricity to over 2.6 million customers. The Company’s key mandate is to plan for sufficient electricity generation and transmission capacity to meet demand; building and maintaining the power distribution and transmission network and retailing of electricity to its customers. In line with its vision “To provide world-class power that delights our customers”, Kenya Power seeks to recruit results oriented individuals with vision and creativity to fill the position of General Manager Finance. The successful job holder will report to the Managing Director and CEO and will support the CEO in ensuring attainment of Kenya Powers’s mandate and strategic objectives.Roles & Responsibilities
The job holder will be responsible for prudent financial management of financial resources to achieve corporate goals and objectives. The job holder will be required to:•Formulate and implement sound financial policies and procedures, systems and strategies;
•Manage the Company’s financial resources to ensure the budget effectively supports implementation of corporate strategy;
•Provide adequate resources for business operations;
•Compile the Company’s statutory financial reports;
•Advise the Board on investment opportunities for maximum returns;
•Advise the Board and Management on financial strategies and their impact on the Company’s objectives;
•Ensure compliance with finance and accounting standards and regulations;
•Coordinate external audit activities;
•Liaise with government and other stakeholders on finance matters;
•Implement technological innovations for sound financial management practices;
•Implement effective controls for prudent use of financial resources; and
•Conduct appraisals on all projects to ensure positive returns on investments.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Finance or a relevant field, a Bachelor’s degree and should be a Certified Public Accountant. He/she should be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAK) and should possess twelve years working experience five of which should be in a senior management position in a comparable organisation.Additional Information
