Kiva is seeking an Intern. S/he will be responsible for making contributions to domestic economic development with Kiva Zip.
Background: Kiva Zip is a pilot program launched by Kiva. Its goal is to expand financial inclusion, support local job creation, and facilitate direct connection between borrowers and lenders through crowdfunded microloans.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Scale new initiatives:
- Identify and onboard organizations to act as ‘trustees’ on the Kiva Zip website, and ensure that trustees clearly understand Kiva Zip processes and policies;
- Help set the strategic direction for the program nationally and within individual’s city;
- Lead fundraising initiatives for the program in individual’s city.
- Marketing communications:
- Represent the program at panels and conferences to build the brand of the program, and develop a network of contacts in local economic development;
- Generate content to tell the story of organization’s impact in the field and engage organization lenders through the organization’s fellows blog and local media outlets;
- Actively grow the program lender base through local media engagement, blogs, social media, offline events, etc.;
- Capture images and video footage for organization’s marketing team;
- Work directly with entrepreneurs and small business owners to develop marketing strategy and execute successful fundraising campaigns.
- Interview organization’s borrowers and trustees to assess loan impact, verify and generate data, and gather information for new product, process and policy developments to increase the overall impact of the program.
Qualifications:
- Background in Finance, Consulting, International Development, Business/Social Enterprise, Social Science, Media Production, Marketing/Communications, Economic Development, Urban Studies;
- Ability to adapt to new cultures and be flexible in new, challenging environments;
- High degree of flexibility, self-motivation and problem solving abilities;
- Familiarity and comfort with various web applications and technology;
- Dedication to working in the field;
- High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently;
- Minimum four months commitment;
- Ability and commitment to fund the experience.
