CARE Somalia is an International NGO working in Somalia. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.
CARE Somalia program is seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Chief of party (CoP) for the anticipated USAID-funded “Somalia Towards Reaching Resilience” (STORRE) project under CARE Somalia’s Rural Women Program. The post will be located in Erigavo, Sanaag region.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Program Coordinator - Rural Women Program, the position primary responsibility will be to provide overall technical leadership, coordination and collaboration with all partners, and strategic oversight of all activities to achieve project objectives. S/he will coordinate and supervise implementation of all program activities in both Erigavo and Badhan districts in Sanaag region.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
· Programmatic and operational oversight for the program;
· Oversee management and implementation of the project, ensuring activities meet stated goals and reporting requirements;
· Lead in liaison and coordination with USAID, key stakeholders, and other implementing partners
· Interact with regional authorities and district administrators and senior level national, regional and district level officials;
· Liaise and collaborate with other CARE programs being implemented in the same districts
Qualifications and Experience:
· Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science or in a relevant field
· At least 6 years’ experience in livelihood/DRR programming and resilience programming, with at least 3 years management experience in complex programs.
· Demonstrated experience in managing research and working with universities.
· Demonstrated experience managing large projects and coordinating with other organizations.
· Budget and contract management experience.
· Knowledge of USAID, programmatic and financial regulations.
· Experience in managing, motivating and mentoring staff and promoting teamwork
· Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
· Strong facilitation skills
