ABOUT THE JOB:
Nuru International is seeking a Social Enterprises - Business Consultant. S/he will be responsible for managing the social enterprises business in Kenya, which include four main activities - agribusiness, a dairy farm, a poultry farm, and health commodities sales. S/he will report to the president, Nuru Social Enterprises. This position is based out of Isibania.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Meet goals of income generating activities of Nuru Social Enterprises;
- Update five year models for four main business lines, adapt initial plans for new research and knowledge gained on the ground, as well as research and develop model for one new business idea;
- Create and implement of 'phase 2' for agribusiness (processing and/or exporting, expansion of second, and potentially third cash crop), dairy (center of excellence and loans to farmers), and poultry (meat production and overall expansion);
- Empower, train, and mentor the organization's Kenya SE manager to facilitate successful expat exit;
- Build and manage SE budget including yearly budgeting process and budget reforecasting;
- Manage all financial components of SE process including inventory tracking, sustainability ratio calculation (including ensuring revenue and expenses are tracked and matched appropriately), and loan package;
- Research and implement systems and processes for financials and operations to streamline processes and prevent theft and inefficiencies;
- Conduct effective turnover to future SEB consultant, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Business degree (MBA preferred);
- Minimum 4 years of business experience;
- About 2–4 years of prior experience living and working in developing world;
- Strong financial modeling skills;
- Prefer experience running a company or managing a P/L with USD 1M- USD 2M budget;
- Experience implementing strategy and willingness to 'be in the weeds';
- Experience and/or interest in working with the poor;
- Strong leadership and team building experience;
- Ability to do crisis management and rapid, innovative problem solving in uncertain environments;
- Ability to adapt quickly to change.
