Context and background
Maternity Foundation has over the past eight years established a strong and sustainable model for strengthening maternal and newborn health in Ethiopia. Our approach is twofold; to empower and mobilize women in rural communities to seek maternal health care and to strengthen the quality of obstetric care received at hospitals and health clinics.
Over the next years, we will scale up and replicate our model into other African countries while sustaining momentum in Ethiopia. Therefore, we are going to develop a regional capacity hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to be opened in late 2014. Through the capacity hub, we will offer our training skills and tools within maternal and newborn health to NGO’s and public institutions throughout East Africa. This will include a regional training task force (theteam of trainers), a virtual training tool platform and a local representation based in Addis. The task force and training infrastructure will need to be ready to start training in Gode, Somali region, in the beginning of 2015. Read more about Maternity Foundation atwww.maternity.dk
