Al-Khair Foundation are looking to recruit a Finance Officer to join the Kenya Field Office team. Al-Khair Foundation is a UK registered charity working to deliver humanitarian and development projects worldwide.
Founded in 2003, Al-Khair provides emergency aid, medical care, education and livelihood support to vulnerable communities in the UK, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and is committed to supporting these groups to become sustainable active citizens in their society. The Kenya field office in Nairobi currently implements a number of WASH, Maternal Health and Livelihood projects and are seeking to expand our reach to develop more sustainable activities in alleviating poverty.
About the Position:
The finance officer will be responsible for overseeing the day to day financial affairs of the organization. The role will lead on areas of financial accounting and reporting, financial management, budgeting and financial planning.

Purpose of Post:
- To ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the financial and management accounts of Al-Khair Kenya’s programmes.
- To work with the Finance and Admin Manager to enhance AKF’s strategic capacity to provide efficient, accurate and timely financial and management accounts to the UK Head Office.
Duties include:
· Ensure the financial systems and procedures are fit for purpose internally and for donor requirements
· Manage the annual statutory audit process
· Manage the annual budgeting process, with follow-up analysis
· Monthly financial reporting, cash-flow and variance analysis
· Liaising with Head Office on our finances
· Project accounting and risk management in line with donor requirements
· FX currency monitoring
· Internal Payroll
The ideal candidate will:
· Be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA etc.)
· Have experience in a similar Finance Officer role in an INGO
· Have experience with project management
· Have good IT skills and the ability to use IT within the finance environment.
· Have good communication skills, written and verbal as well as a fluency in spoken and written English.
· Have good budget management skills.
It is essential that applicants have strong experience in understanding of accounting and reporting procedures from institutional funders such as DIFID, EC & USAID.
Contract:This is a full time position to begin with immediate start (including a three month probationary period).
