MATCHMAKING CONSULTANTS WANTED

EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANTS: MATCHMAKING
Background: Feed the Future, Kenya Innovation Engine
Feed the Future Kenya Innovation Engine (KIE) is as a five-year program implementing under USAID’s Feed the Future (FtF) Strategy. KIE identifies nurtures and brings to scale innovative, private sector-oriented solutions to food insecurity, under-nutrition, and poverty. The Innovation Engine partners with entrepreneurs who design new concepts, products and services to maximize their commercial potential, as well as nutritional and livelihoods benefits to the targeted communities. In a manner similar to a venture capital fund, the Innovation Engine supports experimentation and rewards proven success, seeking projects that represent game-changing methodologies and approaches that have the potential to benefit a significant number of Kenyan households.
Out of the sixteen innovations that implemented under the Proof-of-Concept phase, the program currently has eight innovations implementing in Stage 2, Pilot Roll-Out. KIE expects to be implementing a total of 10 innovations in this stage by end of July 2016. These innovations are under enterprises that are also graduating into market based financial mechanisms to sustain their balance sheets. Part of KIE’s mandate is to assist the enterprises attract investment.
KIE is thus sourcing for a partner to assist the innovation champions’ package their enterprises and innovations to attract investors. KIE refers to this as component as match making. KIE is thus seeking proposals from qualified individuals or companies to assist at least 5 innovators on the match making component.
Deliverable:
Technical and financial proposal on how the firm will address/achieve investment readiness for at least 5 KIE innovators, including how they will decide on which innovations out of the current portfolio of ten innovations.
Financial proposal: As per table below.

HOW TO APPLY:
This consultancy is open to both qualified individuals and companies. The individuals (including where an organization is applying) to lead this assignment must have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree and more than seven years consulting experience or a Master’s degree with more than three years’ experience.

Closing Date for Applications
Consultants interested in carrying out this assignment should submit both a technical and financial proposals by 21st June 2016 to ta.kfie@idd.landolakes.com .
The technical proposal must describe in detail how the consultant expects to execute the assignment (methodology). No presentation formats are preferred and hence interested consultants should feel free to use their own formats.
Applicants should also submit their CVs; with at least three (3) referees for consideration. The CV should include telephone, and email contacts of the applicants and referees.
The Innovation Engine and USAID/Kenya reserve the right to award consultancy contracts to any or none of the applications submitted.
