DRIVERS-KISII, MIGORI & NAIROBI

REPORT TO: ADMIN OFFICER
SUPERVISION: NONE
PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Administration Officer the driver will be responsible for facilitating timely, efficient and safe transportation of authorized persons and/or parcels to designated places; and ensures organization’s vehicles are maintained in a clean and mechanically sound condition, within the legal requirements of the Government of Kenya. j
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Drive Project staff members, consultants and other visitors on Project business.
  2. Maintain defensive driving and operate assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner;
  3. Assist passengers including handicapped in and out of the vehicle;
  4. Operate ramps, lifts and securement devices as required;
  5. Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service;
  6. Present safety briefing to passengers prior to each trip departure;
  7. Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside;
  8. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records;
  9. Fuel assigned vehicle and perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required;
  10. Coordinate the schedule for vehicle maintenance with staff to minimize service interruptions;
  11. Respond to accident or medical emergencies by notifying emergency, response providers, and carrying out First Aid pending arrival of emergency personnel;
Required Qualifications
  1. Chauffer experience. Experience driving in Nairobi and familiarity with rural terrain and roads preferred.
  2. Valid Kenya driver’s license. Ability to provide proof of good driving record.
  3. 4 years’ driving experience
  4. Ability to perform minor repairs of vehicle. Previous auto mechanic experience helpful.
  5. Demonstrated punctuality, attention to detail, patience, good humor, flexibility, and overall positive attitude.
  6. Project a neat and professional appearance.
  7. 'O' level certificate
  8. First Aid Certificate
  9. Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s);
  10. Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  11. Report writing skills and ability to read maps
  12. Computer literacy
