Overview
The Field Coordinator will provide support to effective program implementation that will contribute to expanding access to comprehensive reproductive health and contraceptive services. This position works with guidance from the Health Systems Advisor and provides technical support to all areas of program implementation at the facility, sub-county and county levels in designated counties. The position works closely with County and Sub-County health offices to plan, support implementation and monitor Ipas service delivery and access objectives. The Coordinator will also support the integration of content and participation of relevant stakeholder in Ipas’ programs across community groups (adolescents and youth, women’s groups and community leadership) and ensure appropriate documentation is carried out. The position works with in-country team, as well as with a range of external partners and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities;
Health systems:
- Monitor continued service provision of reproductive health services as supported at various assigned health facilities and documenting the same.
- Supporting health facilities to organize monthly service delivery in-reach days and outreaches in collaboration with the community mobilisers, county managers and partners
- Liaise with the health systems advisor on technical issues arising from health facilities for follow-up and action and monitoring
- Link providers and clinical mentors/ program support team members as need arises
- Supporting implementation of quality of care checks through supporting integration of periodic client exit interviews in health facilities.
- Monitor availability of RH&FP commodities and liaising with the health systems advisors and commodities focal point for support to resolve gaps.Community Access support:
- Support community based groups, mobilisers in work planning and implementation of planned activities
- Support documentation of activities and achievements from demand generation work.
- Provide linkage between demand generation and service delivery in liaison with relevant Ipas advisors.
- Support the Ipas partners at community and county level to utilize the data collection tools and ensure submission of the collected reports to Ipas on a monthly basis or as directed.Project monitoring:
- Collection of health facility CAC Log book and FP summaries data from sub-county programs focal person or as directed and transmission of the same to the health systems advisors
- Collection of data from CBOs and CHEWs for community access and transmission to the community access and youth advisors.
- Work closely with the community based groups in the assigned counties to ensure proper and accurate reporting of monthly reports; both financials and narrative.
- Review and submission of monthly work reports and calendar of activities to supervisors.
- Identification of success stories within the health facilities and community and liaising with the relevant technical focal person for documentation
- Identification of any delays, areas/ issues that may cause delay in implementation and ensure that this is quickly addressed through the relevant Ipas channels.Administrative:
- Coordinate the preparation of Ipas meetings and trainings as may be assigned
- Carry out any other duties as assigned.
- Accurate reporting of work assignments in various Ipas platform including Terra.

Professional Knowledge
- Must be able to produce work-plans, timelines and budgets (as appropriately), subject to supervisor review and approval.
- Must have the ability to work with differing community populations including adolescents and women’s groups, especially in the area of youth mobilisation and information, education and communication for comprehensive contraceptive and abortion care.
- Must have sound knowledge and experience in implementation of the community strategy.
- Must have experience in working with county government officers, health managers and community resource persons and stakeholders.
Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as well as Third Parties (i.e., include level or job title of customer relationship and the nature of the customer relationship management and service delivery)
· Collaborates with programs advisors, health systems advisors, community access and youth advisors and appropriate colleagues to improve and implement demand generation
· Works with advisors and advisors from technical units to alert on issues with program implementation and to brainstorm improvement initiatives
· Communicates with community based organisations, youth peer educators and health service providers to ensure projects are implemented in the appropriate manner
· Manages relationships with key external stakeholders to promote youth friendly comprehensive abortion and contraceptive care and services uptake at community and facility level.
Minimum Requirements for Position (e.g., level of formal schooling, licenses/certifications, on-the-job experience)
- Diploma in health related field (clinical medicine, Midwifery) or public health or community health and social sciences.
- At least 5 years’ relevant work experience
- Relevant experience in working in adolescent reproductive health programs and especially with focus on community mobilisation for behaviour change.
- Must have had experience working with County systems.
Preferred Requirements (e.g., IT, language, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience in community mobilization, capacity building and training of community groups
- Must be familiar with working with youths
- Computer literate and good working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Good working knowledge of both written and spoken English and Kiswahili
