The Aga Khan Foundation (East Africa) is seeking dynamic and qualified candidates to implement AKF’s expanding youth programming in Coast and the Arid and Semi-Arid Land in Kenya.
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational, international development agency promoting creative and effective solutions to selected problems that impede social and economic development in parts of Africa and Asia. In Kenya, AKF is managing a robust and expanding portfolio of multi-sectorial initiatives that includes programmes in livelihoods, education, early childhood development, health, nutrition and civil society strengthening.
Project Coordinator (1 position)
The Project Coordinator will be based in Malindi and key responsibilities include:
- Directly supervise and provide necessary technical support to project staff
- Complete monthly and quarterly reports according to the donor requirements
- Enhance collaboration between AKF and other relevant partners at national and county levels
- Coordinate the implementation of training programs and outreach activities
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Masters’ degree in project management, community development, social sciences, with at least 5 years working experience at project management, But Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 10 years working experience at management or coordination levels.
- An in depth Understanding of the local context in Lamu, Garisa and Mandera and appreciation of the community dynamics presented.
- A working experience in project participatory methodologies and community driven approaches.
- Proven work experience managing Civil Society organizations in governance and economic empowerment. A proven record working with devolved units of governments will be an added advantage
- Experience in coordinating agribusiness, value addition, youth enterprise development, livelihood programming for youth in marginalized areas and understanding of Technical Vocational Training institutions and their contribution in youth development.
- A proven effective communicator, mobilizer and motivator in a sensitive working environment.
