The Aga Khan Foundation (East Africa) is seeking dynamic and qualified candidates to implement AKF’s expanding youth programming in Coast and the Arid and Semi-Arid Land in Kenya.
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational, international development agency promoting creative and effective solutions to selected problems that impede social and economic development in parts of Africa and Asia. In Kenya, AKF is managing a robust and expanding portfolio of multi-sectorial initiatives that includes programmes in livelihoods, education, early childhood development, health, nutrition and civil society strengthening.
M&E Officer (1 Position)
The M&E Officer will be based in Malindi and key responsibilities include:
- Lead the implementation of the project’s M&E plans including development and use of appropriate data collection tools in collaboration with the implementing partners
- Provide remote and on-site M&E technical support to project implementing partners for quality data collection, analysis and reporting
- Carry out quality assurance of the project activities including regular field monitoring, supervision as well as random verification of monitoring data
- Monitor project’s performance and support preparation of consolidated M&E progress reports that meet AKF and donor requirements in liaison with the project manager
- Coordinate documentation of lessons from the project including drawing attention of project team and partners to integrate lessons in on-going project implementation
- Develop a database for the project’s monitoring data, ensuring that it is secure and accessible
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum under-graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as, international development, economic or social sciences
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant practical experience designing and implementing M&E systems in a development context working with NGOs, Government agencies, and donor-funded projects
- Proven experience with results-based management and associated tools, EU donor requirements and reporting processes is an added advantage
- Proven experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and M&E softwares such as SPSS, STATA, Epi-Info and other database softwares
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English and excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Experience implementing surveys and researches using technology-enabled M&E a plus
