FINANCE MANAGER – NAIROBI & KISII

Position Summary
This position provides independently-led finance support across various area programs and teams by ensuring timely and accurate project financial reports and monitoring budget compliance and burn rates for effective implementation of projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Implement, review and drive adherence to accounting procedures and guidelines;
  2. Prepare accurate financial reports, schedules and timely monthly closeouts as required;
  3. Support the project's budgeting system at all stages from program design and Planning through implementation and monitoring.
  4. Responsible for account reconciliations and preparation of cash flow forecasts;
  5. Timely preparation and submission of program cash requests to HQ Finance office;
  6. Prepare pipeline reports, identify internal control weaknesses and implement improvements;
  7. Monitor expenses against the program budget, and provide precise, detailed, reports during project start-up and throughout implementation and close-out.
  8. Review and ensure proper filing of financial reports to the relevant authorities;
  9. Submit program financial reports for review by the Program Directors.
  10. Analyze project expenses, including partner financial reports, on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  11. Facilitate payment of the approved payroll;
  12. Ensure the organization is tax compliant(exempted based on the programs running), and ensure filing of the same where required;
  13. Ensure compliance with all donor regulations and MGIC policies, practices, and regulations.
  14. Prepare all required documentation for accounting and audits.
  15. Work with program personnel to maintain their budgets during the project cycle;
  16. Ensure that accounts payable are properly monitored and managed;
  17. Maintain the relationship with vendors, creditors and bankers;
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, or closely related field.
  2. CPA (K) / ACCA  Minimum five (5) years of related experience managing financial, accounting functions for large, multi-faceted USAID projects.
  3. Experience managing USAID-funded activities and thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements.
  4. Relevant experience in subcontract and grant management preferred.
  5. Supervisory experience a plus.
