  • 12 Month fixed term contract, with potential to extend
  • Preferred location: An Eastern Africa location, with regular travel to Eritrea
Founded in 1992, The Fred Hollows Foundation has been a driving force in the development and implementation of blindness prevention programs in some of the poorest and most isolated regions in the world.
Currently operating in 19 countries throughout Africa, South Asia and South East Asia, The Foundation has restored sight to over 1 million people worldwide and has recently been named one of the Australia’s best NGO’s. An ambitious strategic agenda we aim to take the Foundation even closer to realising our vision of ending avoidable blindness. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Health in Eritrea and the Asmara College of Health Sciences, The Foundation is supporting achieving the VISION2020 strategy of eliminating avoidable blindness.
This role will be based in an Eastern Africa location, dependent on the preferred applicant, and will provide coordination and administration support to deliver The Foundations funded Program in Eritrea. In this varied role, you will get the opportunity to support all stages of the project life cycle, developing critical skills in program design, coordination, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
To be successful, you should be an international development or public health graduate with outstanding conceptual and analytical skills, looking to capitalise on your 2+ years field experience. You should possess a genuine passion and commitment to development principals and have the ability to work with substantial independence and initiative, dealing proactively and confidently with a range of people, tasks and situations. Your ability to manage complex and competing relationships will be a key to your success. If you possess a genuine ability to multi-task along with strong prioritising and organisational skills, this could be the role for you!

Preferred locations for this position are either Kenya or Rwanda. Essential to this role is the ability to travel with ease to Eritrea.
