JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure efficient and effective mechanical maintenance of machines and equipment with a view to attaining productivity, safety and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist in developing and evaluating the effectiveness of preventive maintenance schedules and plans.
- To supervise performance of scheduled and non-scheduled electrical and electronics maintenance to achieve precision and minimize downtime.
- To maintain effective systems for accountability for company tools and spares assigned to personnel.
- To supervise the preparation of machines and equipment for statutory inspection.
- To foster good working practices in all work sites as set out in the safety, health and environment systems and statutory requirements.
- To ensure placement of requisitions for spare parts is done on time and with correct specifications and make appropriate follow up for timely procurement.
- To monitor machine and equipment performance and assist in formulating continuous improvement programs.
- To supervise junior staff and keep them effectively informed of their obligations and make regular follow ups on key aspects of their work such as quality, budget, timelines, reports and updates as may be necessary
- To carry out modifications on mechanical parts to suit repair standards.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering.
- Qualifications in Instrumentation will be an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience, 2 of which must be in a food processing plant
- Experience as an Engineering Technician in an FMCG environment will be an advantage
Key Competencies:
- Adequate knowledge of plant machinery and equipment and their working principles.
- Ability to carry out diagnosis for reactive maintenance purposes and fixing of breakdowns within short lead times.
- Worked as a team leader in an engineering environment.
- Able to work under pressure.

- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated good time management.
