CARE Somalia/Somaliland is an International NGO working in Somalia. CARE Somalia/Somaliland and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty and promote peace and development, through its strategic goal to reduce poverty by empowering women, enhancing access to resources and services, and improving governance.
We're seeking applications from experienced professionals to fill the position of IT Intern based in Nairobi with frequent travel to field offices in Somalia. Offices in Somalia/Somaliland.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Help Desk Assistance
Provide computer software and hardware support services.

Ensure that all PC are loaded with CARE standard software and maintain standard configuration as specified in Care SSS MIS Policy.

2. Ensure the MIS standards and policies are adhered to at all times and throughout the entire infrastructure.

  • Ensure all systems installation are inline with MIS policy and standards.
  • Assess hardware requirements, make recommendation for upgrade and ensure proper specifications are met on all delivered IT equipment.
  • In liaison with supervisor, reviewing the existing systems and make/suggest relevant improvement where necessaries in line with CARE IT standards.
  • Maintain computer assets register in line with the country office Asset management policy.
  • Ensure systems availability and Integrity;
Provide support for office application systems.
Assist in monitoring network traffic and utilization logs to ensure smooth running and optimized use of network resources.
Maintain high availability on the client side for database systems and Internet/Intranet/Email to users.
Provide backup support to Financial Systems (Scala) and other major databases.

4. Training
Assist in conducting computer software training for the CO as may be requested by the MIS Officer and Training Officer (Ensure staff are familiar with standard CARE software)

5. Preventive Maintenace
Assist the MIS officer in dealing and following up equipment repairs and services with external vendors.
Assist the MIS officer in running and managing the helpdesk services.
6. Other Duties
Assist the MIS Officers in developing small database systems
Make sure MIS standards and policy are adhered to at all times.
7. Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor
8. Requirements:
  • University degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • Must have a strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills, the desire to learn, and is not afraid to ask questions
  • Must be a team player, have good communication skills
