Overview:
The Senior Program Advisor I works to provide technical and programmatic oversight and in implementation of Choice for Change (C4C) project in the areas of: staff capacity building for project management monitoring of compliance related to project implementation; monitoring and tracking of C4C budgets in coordination with the Africa Alliance Program Advisors; ensuring technical linkages for enhanced project management; and coordination and management of C4C project, working closely with including integrated health systems, policy, and research and evaluation to support the effective implementation of CIFF (C4C) project in Kenya. This position requires a comprehensive understanding and application of project management in supporting the Programs Manager and Technical Manager to oversee implementation of C4C project in Nairobi. This position is responsible for identifying gaps and opportunities related to C4C program budget monitoring, donor reporting and program activity updates across the region. The Senior Advisor also designs internal and external presentations and materials about C4C Project, drafts memos and briefs, and interacts with other units on internal systems and processes. This position works closely with the Headquarters staff, Africa technical regional support team, and units.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring program work plans a, re aligned with Donor commitments
- Liaising with Program Manager, Senior HS Advisor, HS Advisor, R&E Advisor, Youth Advisor, and Policy Advisor on technical deliverables for C4C project.
- Leading project management initiative for the C4C project
- Responsible for tracking project scope, time-lines and budgets, working closely with the Program Manager and the Finance Manager
- Preparing donor reports in liaison with the Program Manager
- Working with R&E team in implementing M&E plan for the C4C project
- Monitors activity progress and ensures progress is recorded in activity tracking tools
- May represent Ipas at events in an effort to promote the organization’s mission and image
- Performs other duties as assigned and responsibilities may vary by country
Requirements:
- Master’s degree
- 7-10 years’ relevant experience, which includes 5 years planning and managing sexual and reproductive health projects
- Significant experience with international development donors, proposal-writing and reporting
- Significant work experience in Sub-Saharan Africa
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial management
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to travel 50%
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
