OFAB Project Manager

by Unknown  |  at  5:31 AM

SRI has been contracted by the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) to assist with their search for an exceptional candidate to fill the position of OFAB Project Manager.
The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a not-for-profit organisation that facilitates and promotes public/private partnerships to access, develop, adapt and deliver appropriate agricultural technologies for sustainable use by smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is headquartered in Nairobi, and its mandate covers sub-Saharan Africa. More information about AATF is available at www.aatf-africa.org
The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) established the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology in Africa (OFAB) in 2006 to facilitate the flow of credible biotech information from the scientific community to policy makers and the general public. While science plays an important role in clarifying wrong perceptions, misinformation often thrives in an environment where the evidence-base is poorly understood, leading to weak political and public support for the science. The aim of the Forum is to share knowledge and facilitate interactions and constructive conversations among stakeholders (e.g. farmers, scientists, journalists, the civil society, industrialists, lawmakers and policy makers) to create a better enabling environment for the commercialization of biotech crops in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Having been in operation for nearly ten years now, OFAB has made commendable progress and learned best practices. OFAB has grown and evolved into a credible advocacy platform with convening power and a stronger voice.
Under the supervision of Communications & Partnerships Manager, the OFAB Project Manager will be responsible for managing, coordinating, guiding growth and expansion, monitoring and reporting on OFAB’s activities in Africa.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or any other related and equivalent disciplines from a recognized institution; At least Eight (8) years’ experience in managing a complex biotechnology advocacy and communication program at regional or international levels; Demonstrated solid public relations, advocacy and communication skills – written, editorial and spoken; Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work activities to meet organizational goals and supervise virtual teams; Experience in managing complex private public partnership advocacy projects and preferably in biotech products; Ability to write reports and prepare relevant publications for wide media circulation; High level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build alliances and collaborative relationships with sensitivity to diversity; Experience in proposal writing; Fluency in English; working knowledge of French will be an advantage.
