ROLE PURPOSE:
Among other things, tThe incumbent is responsible for designing and leading all SNSomalia Nutrition Consortium programme studies including baselines, SMART, SQUEACNCA and KAP surveys, ensuring that they are conducted in a timely manner and meet programme quality requirements of International Standards. Actively strengthening the capacity of SNS Consortium field teams in the same, and overseeing all SNS research (surveys and other), are key responsibilities.
S/he will closely liaise with all SNSomalia Nutrition Consortium partner organisations to ensure timely undertaking of all planned programme studies and ensuring dissemination of results both internally and externally. S/he is responsible for the production of high quality research and survey reports, for diverse key audiences. S/he will also play a significant role representing the Consortium in key relevant forums, including at Cluster meetings (Nairobi and Mogadishu) and in the Cluster’s AIM Working Group and others.

Dimension of Role:
This is a challenging role in a complex environment. It requires a dedicated, experienced and highly motivated individual who can manage the difficulties of working in such an environment and still be fundamental in helping to drive forward SNSour programmes and our ambitions. The Researcher will be part of the Consortium’s CMU team and work closely with the which includes MEAL Manager and others, to provide sound programme/grant management services and key centralised technical research support across all Consortium members.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Programme Research
· Lead the design and undertaking of all the planned SNS studies, ensuring that they are conducted on time and to the degree ofwith quality that befits external dissemination.
· Ensure appropriate internal and external dissemination of all studies and any other documentation on programme performance.
· Maintain contact with other Somalia research forums and organizations, from which the Cconsortium will benefit and/ or contribute.
· Produce technical papers based on SNSthe programme research findings for programme improvement, sharing best practices and advocacy purposes
· RContribute to represent SNSing the principles and evidence-based work of the Nutrition Consortium to in relevant forums and liaise as necessary with the Cluster and other key actors, including donors, UN Agencies, NGOs and INGOs, Government, media and other stakeholders when required.
Technical Assistance and Capacity Building
· Work with consortium partners to ensure systems are in place for undertaking key SNS programme studies and documenting other relevant programming data.
· Provide field-based research and survey support, ensuring the accurate and timely collection of data, its analysis and the generation of quality reports.
· Work closely with consortium partners to strengthen the research and survey capacity of managers and SNS field teams, in line with the SNS Research and Capacity Development strategies and plans. in developing and implementing a relevant and sustainable capacity building plan in nutrition programme research.
· Work with Consortium partner teams to prepare high quality reports on all studies conducted under the programme, for internal and donor reporting.
· Analyse CMAM data on a regular monthly basis and sharegive analysis onf program admission trends and performance indicators, at all relevant internal and external forums.
Other duties:
· Compile and, at the request of the Nutrition Consortium Manager, present analytical data on SNS coverage and the impact of SNS. the nutrition program.
· Be an active member of relevant Somalia forums, e.g. the AIM Working Group. Keep abreast of developments and ensure SNS involvement and representation, as appropriate.
· Share responsibility and play a lead role in helping to take the NCA Study findings forward.
· Comply with and promote SCI Global Policies such as Child Safeguarding, whistle blowing, fraud and safety
· Remotely manage, supervise and respond to CMAM challenges shared by SNS field teams, as necessary.
· Perform other duties as may be requested by the SNS Consortium Manager. incumbent’s supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health , Epidemiology or related discipline.
- At least 5 year experience in a similar position
· Strong knowledge and experience of CMAM in the field.
· Extensive experience in leading and conducting Nutrition surveys. P and proven experience with the SQUEAC/LQAS/CSAS methodology.
· Proven ability to organize and supervise a survey teams in a cross-cultural setting.
· Excellent English language presentation, report writing and communication skills.
· StrongGood training and /facilitation skills. Experience of using Participatory Approaches.
· Significant experience in the nutrition and allied sectors, preferably in Somali contexts.
· Good knowledge of current Somalia contexts and key programming challenges in Somalia.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with Thethe ability to operate effectively as part of a team in a multi-cultural, values driven work environment.
· Demonstrated leadership experience, including in strategic and operational planning processes and overseeing their successful implementation.
· Experience of remote management and supervision.
· Ability and willingness to travel to Somalia as needed, for up to 2.5 weeks (maximum) at one time.
· Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
· Strong inter-personal skills.
· Familiarity with key Somalia nutrition and allied sector actors a distinct advantage.
