The Finance Manager – Kenya will work closely with the Global Controllership Team (located in Mumbai, India) to provide financial leadership in Kenya related to accounting and tax compliance. This person will be accountable for all the accounting and reporting books of accounts for all Greenlight Planet subsidiaries in the East Africa region. He or she will also be responsible for ensuring compliance on local laws and regulations and accounting as per local GAAP.
Essential responsibilities:
- Ensuring accurate month-/quarter-/year-close processes
- Lead closure of all statutory and tax audits, external and internal audits
- Finalize financial statements in accordance with local GAAP and US GAAP and perform required analytical review
- Manage tax and overall account reconciliations to ensure the balance sheet is stated accurately
- Manage creation and filing of all direct and indirect tax; conduct routine analysis and internal reporting related to taxes
- Assist in annual Transfer pricing assessments, filings, reporting and processes
- Ensure accurate with-holding tax rate across all required heads
- Responsible for liaising with the service provider for getting the remittance done on time for NSSF, NHIF, ITL and other related items
- Maintain the monthly Compliance Dashboard and to ensure that all statutory payments are made on time
- Drive visibility into variable cost accounting, variable cost productivity, project margins analysis and other key financial metrics.
- Lead the process of employee reimbursements
The ideal candidate has:
- Strong domain expertise and relevant qualifications: ACA / CPA / MBA in finance. Candidate should have 4-6 years relevant work experience in Controllership, accounting or taxation practices with Big 4 audit firms or MNCs
- Superior analytical skills: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change
- Clear thinking/problem solving, able to lead projects/process improvement within operations/finance function
- Motivated to work in a lean and demanding start-up environment: willing to engage in operations in addition to finance when required; a strong team player; flexible, willing to stretch to achieve over and above base expectations
- Excellent presentation skills and strong executive presence; excellent grasp over MS Excel and Powerpoint
