Investment Manager – Sub Saharan Africa

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Incofin Investment Management (Incofin IM) manages impact investment funds focusing mainly on financial institutions (FIs) in emerging economies. The investment funds make debt and equity investment in FIs or other institutions that serve MSMEs. The investments of Incofin IM target both financial and social return. The assets under management by Incofin IM amount to USD 650 million. The portfolio under management includes investments in 125 institutions in 40 countries worldwide.
Incofin IM is one of the fastest growing fund managers in the area of financial inclusion. The multinational Incofin IM team has offices in Antwerp, Bogota (Colombia), Nairobi (Kenya) and Phnom Penh (Cambodia). It has representation in Chennai (India). To strengthen our team of 35 staff, we are looking for an Investment Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, who will be based in the office in Nairobi and who will report to the Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.
ABOUT THE JOB: 

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Supporting the development of a portfolio of MFI debt investments Sub-Saharan Africa with emphasis on West Africa (both Francophone and Anglophone Africa), including:
  • Identifying suitable investment opportunities;
  • Screening FIs;
  • Negotiating debt transactions with FIs;
  • Executing due diligence analyses of FIs;
  • Drafting and presenting reports to Investment Committee;
  • Monitoring investments;
  • Keep abreast of economic, financial and political developments in assigned countries.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced academic degree in finance/economics or equivalent by experience;
  • At least 3 years of experience in (micro)finance investment management or (micro)finance consulting services (such as ratings, technical assistance);
  • Passionate about microfinance and the financial industry;
  • Committed to social objectives;
  • Entrepreneurial, pro-active, result-oriented;
  • Hands-on attitude and resilient to stress;
  • Strong analytical mind;
  • Capable of presenting investment opportunities to highly professional counterparts;
  • Perfect knowledge of both French and English (spoken and written);
  • Good IT user skills (excellent knowledge of MS Office);
  • Prepared to travel frequently (min 30% of the working time) and high degree of flexibility;
  • Good team player.
