IPC Food Security Officers

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a global, multi-partner innovative initiative to facilitate decision-making with improved food security analysis. The IPC is set of tools and protocols for classifying the severity and nature of food insecurity that integrates food security, nutrition and livelihood information into a clear statement about the nature and severity of food insecurity and implications for response. IPC incorporates a meta-analysis approach drawing on evidence-based analysis that includes a broad range of data sets and stakeholders.
1) Who are we looking for?
The demand for IPC is continuing to increase and currently IPC activities are ongoing in more than 25 countries around the world. IPC is looking for qualified Food Security Officers for coordinating, managing and implementing IPC activities in selected countries requesting IPC support. 2) Location and duration of the assignment
The location and duration of the assignment will vary depending on the location and nature of the country request. Duty stations may be in Bangkok, Dakar, Johannesburg, Nairobi, and Rome. Priority will be given to countries, contributing directly to FAO Strategic Objective 1 Output 10301 (Improving capacities of governments and stakeholders to monitor trends and analyze the contribution of sectors and stakeholders to food security and nutrition) and Strategic Objective 5 Output 50202 (Improving capacities to undertake vulnerability and/or resilience analysis).
3) General requirements
  • Candidates should meet the following general requirements:
  • Advanced University degree in Agriculture, Economics, Nutrition, Statistics, Social Science, Agro-finance or a closely related field
  • Seven years of relevant work experience in food security and vulnerability analysis including familiarity with different methodologies and indicators
  • Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two.
