The Danish Refugee Council is an international non-governmental organization that promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world. DRC has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa region since 1997. The DRC Kenya Program is seeking a qualified candidate for the following position:
Training & Scholarship Assistant - Nairobi
Working under the supervision of Training Officer the Job holder will assist in implementation of the vocational skills programme including conducting vocational skills assessments and documenting programme activities in the DRC Urban Project in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning, developing, implementing and evaluating vocational training and development programs
Take part in planning and coordination of scholarship activities.
Conduct field visits to review progress of activity implementation.
Provide career development sessions for beneficiaries.
Monitor students’ class attendance and progress in institutions
Carry out community mobilization.
Participate in all training department meetings.
Documentation-: data entry, filing, photography, updating of the information in the databases
To prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly report.
In the absence of the training officer act on their behalf.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or in Education/ Diploma in Education or equivalent.
Minimum 2-years’ working experience both as a professional teacher/tutor in a government institution and/or with INGOs in the field of education and scholarship administration
Prior experience working with local governments and stakeholders in implementation of projects
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; well organized, and able to prioritize multiple tasks.
Working knowledge of MS Office and other relevant computer applications,
Able to adapt to changing program priorities and emergency priorities that may arise
Strong self-starter, able to take initiatives.
Good planning and organizational skills coupled with problem solving capabilities
Hands-on community mobilization skills
Desired Qualities
Experience in an urban refugee setting and knowledge of refugee issues;
Self-motivated and able to work under minimal supervisionditions and ability to communicate fluently
in the Somali language will be an added advantage

Conditions
Commencement: Immediately
Duty Station: Nairobi
Contract: Until 31st December, 2015, with possibility of renewal
This position falls under the DRC Kenya National Salary Scale
